Aimed Shot Firing Tests for Rifle Types:
by: Tekkor / Date:7/23/01
Ok fellow
agents this is actually the first article on the site. Some
of you may be familiar with the discussions going on in our
message boards about whether Concealment
effects the chances of critical hit on Aimed Shot.
I will
be conducting more tests on this to confirm with better accuracy
and will post a new article with the results. However this
article is about something I found very interesting tonight
while logging Aimed Shot results with 2 different rifles.
Let me first give you my stats that I had during all these
test shots:
Tekkor
/ Lvl 26 Agent
Concealment 210
Rifle 182
Aimed Shot 208
Sense 95
Agility 93
Items
of note on person:
Following NF's: +20 to rifle, +20 aimed shot, +20 run speed,
+4 dmg, +63 concealment.
Extra items: Low light targeting scope QL 20, adds +3 to critical
chance.
Implants: Various implants giving +'s to Rifle, sense and
aimed shot.
Ok that covers my whole setup. Now here are the 2 rifles used
for these tests:
| Gripo-Com AKR 1K20 |
Tsakachumi PTO-HV CS |
| QL 30 |
QL 28 |
| Clip 8 |
Clip 26 |
| Dmg 1-52(155) |
Dmg 7-66(38) |
| Atk Speed 1.21 |
Atk Speed 2.45 |
| Recharge 1.30 |
Recharge 2.49 |
| Range 30m |
Range 30m |
The target
for the 2 tests were Yellow con Large Chirops and Yellow con
Kea Reets. They were all about 1 to 2 level below even on
using "T" to con. The area was behind Galway Castle
near zone line to Clondyke.
Here were
the results on Aimed Shots:
| Gripo |
Tsak |
| Chirop #1: 82 |
Chirop #1: 62 |
| Chirop #2: 89 |
Chirop #2: 148 |
| Chirop #3: 56 |
Chirop #3: 68 |
| Chirop #4: 114 |
Chirop #4: 132 |
| Chirop #5: 118 |
Chirop #5: 168 |
| Reet #1: 46 |
Reet #1: 174 |
What
does it mean?:
Ok...so here is what I get out of all this. First of all certain
rifles are made for sniping more so then others. Even though
the Gripo has a higher critical damage total (155) compared
to Tsak (38) the Tsak consistently gets higher damage Aimed
Shots.
Barrel
Length:
One thing to note on this and I have never seen anyone else
note this. If you notice both rifles have a range of 30m.
However the on player graphic for the Tsak has the long extended
barrel while the Gripo has a short assault rifle look to it.
This could be a key issue with Aimed Shot. The rifles with
the extended barrels could be meant for Aimed Shot.
Extra
Data:
As you can see in test results above the Tsak had 4 of 6 shots
hit over 100. The Gripo only had 2 and they were low 100's
at that. One thing in the Gripos defense though is it may
not be best at Aimed Shot but that guns kicks major freaking
arse after that. During this test I had 3 normal shots
with the Gripo for 299 damage! 3 times in 12 creatures!!

So it would appear a great combo would be to have Tsak to
start fight off and then once creature gets to you go to Gripo.
Recharging:
One other key item that I am not sure many understand correctly.
I think many people believe the Recharge stat on weapons is
only in regard to it reloading. Now while this may be true
that is not all it has to do with. The Gripo Aimed Shot
comes back available like 4 times faster then the Tsak.
I swear the Gripo aimed shot is back in like 30 sec I would
guess. The Tsak takes about 1:30 I would estimate. Sorry I didn't
time it.
In
closing:
I hope you guys got some info out of this. I sure did.
It appears that certain rifles are much better suited for
Aimed Shot then others. I will in the future do some more
tests with a wider range of rifles. I have a MTI SL70 I can
use next time. Just some final comments from me on the 2 rifles
I used.
The Grippo
is a crazy mean arse gun. It rips through creatures and your
ammo like baby shi....errr um well real fast. The gun does
great damage. However it seems not to be the best gun to use
aimed shot for at least from my tests.
The Tsak
is a very nice gun as well. Many I have talked to consider
it the 3rd best gun behind the Stigma and Gripo respectively.
I have not had a Stigma yet so I am not sure on it. However
I can say with pretty strong confidence the Tsak is the much
superior Aimed Shot rifle over the Gripo...while the Gripo
is the far superior medium to close range gun.
