Server Stuff
Like the big guy said we are running
the Lithium Beta for CTF on our server. Go check it out. You probably wont notice much
different from the good old original CTF. Our radio stuff is gone, and a few other things
seem a little hosed as Freezer said. Here is one thing I did just for my own laughs, you
may find it funny too.
I have the BFG on but I have done
some.....modifications on it, hehe. I have it where it flies so slow that if you are a
long ways from someone when they shoot it at you that you can go get a sandwich...take a
piss...go make a drink and come back and still have time to re bind all your keys before
you have to move. Hehe. I also adjust the damage from 200 to 5 and area of effect from
1000 to 100. I haven't tested the damage adjustment but the speed adjustment is funny as
hell to watch.

Geez. Settle down big guy, heheh. We
were just having a little friendly active debate over the site. I was just very lost on
the whole mp3...format and was wondering why all the sudden everyone was talking about it
and I knew shit about it. No big deal. Now here is one thing that does have me pissed...my
new pc I ordered is still not here!!! The bastards have gone past their promised delivery
date so now I am gonna start harassing them for money back or free shit. Hehe, maybe I can
get the to throw me back enough money to get the Monster 2 card, yeah that's the
ticket...yeah...

Freezer on this "debate"
Ok I guess I shouldn't have said JACK
SHIT about WinAmp..personally I don't use it nor do I ever care to use it..I got a god
damn CD player what's the big freaking deal? I didn't mean to start a damn riot over
posting something one of our clan members has done, I guess anything not related to the
clan shouldn't be brought up here..uhh wait isn't this clan related?. I'll know
better next time not to post crap like that..
In other news, the server is running the Lithium Mod
CTF beta, you will notice certain things won't work..like messagemode2, dropping the flag
you lovely % variables and your radio pak. Also you need to bind a key to +hook inorder to
use the grapple. Well I can't guarantee that the radio pak will ever get in but I can tell
you all other issues will be addressed in my email to the beta team. If you have any
issues you'd like to have addressed or if you find any bugs in your playing on the
server..send them to me, with the subject of Server Bugs, and I will
forward them. I will be putting a bug submission form up in a little while

Jazz on...Stuff
Good to see FG and ZM are still around.
Good luck on the firewall dilemma. I know first hand what a pain that is. I was mondo
happy when my pc got off that firewall and directly on the T1 instead. I want to say say
thanks to Hirudin for sending me a long email explaining the whole mp3 THING.
I do understand it much better now but I really
don't see a whole lot of sense in it unless you want to pirate music or need to compress
music for some multimedia project (in which case the players still are not what you need).
I do find it very cool that you can make playlists in the Winamp and mix CD songs, mp3
songs etc into one big long playlist. I am actually using it mainly just because of that
feature. Now I just need to find some cool mp3 songs that I like. I really need to get
with Freezer on the phone here soon so we can talk about what we want to do for a server.

I'm still alive... I swear!
Well although no one has seen me (FRaG
GoD) or ZapMan online for the last week or so, we are still in fact alive. We have
moved to our campus dorms, which have really cool ethernet lines running through all the
buildings. Unfortunately, the overprotective admins of the university have set up a
firewall that blocks out anything using ports other than the standards for http, ftp, and
smtp... So we can look at web sites really fast, and download stuff at ridiculous
speeds, but no Quake or ICQ. We both went and talked to the head IT guy who
eventually agreed to look into removing restrictions on some non-standard ports, so I'm
making a list of all the ones that the different Q2 mods use, etc. We can however
play on any computer on the local lan just fine. I set up a listen server on mine,
and ran some bots on it for practice, and two of my roommates connected to my computer
with an average ping of 50ms. This seems to be an acceptable improvement, for $2000
dollars a year. We should hopefully be able to bash the heads of other quakers
outside our campus sometime next week, and I look forward to being a resident LPB very
much. :)
As for the CTF server, I did notice that it was
staying up much better than the Action server for a while, and then they seemed to switch
places. The Viking authors neglected their work for a long time, but they made a
recent update to the news page saying that they ARE in fact working on it, just don't have
a lot of free time. I personally think that the Viking Mod will be a cool thing to
run when it's done, but I have no objections if they decide to run a regular CTF server or
FreezeTag or something like that until then. There's no telling how long it will
take for it to get finished.
As for mp3's, they are not really a thing, just a
format. mp3 is a audio/video compression format like mpeg's and stuff, and it is
very good. It allows you to record CD quality sound at a much smaller file size than
a .wav file would be. I have used WinAmp for a little while, and it plays a whole
bunch of different file types. I guess the author intended for it to replace your
Windoze Media Player, which is why it stole all the file associations for all the
different audio types. That particular move was rather annoying, but the player does
seem to work pretty well. If you have a lot of time on your hands (or a really fast
net connection) and like listening to good quality sounds on your computer, then it is a
pretty good deal. It's not really that important though. And that Soritong
site appears to be made by a Korean, which would explain its strange language in some
parts. WinAmp seems to work just fine though. Allowing people to make 'skins'
for it is just a program set up by the national government to keep kids off the streets at
night. It seems that trying to make your WinAmp skin work properly takes up a lot
more time than "midnight basketball", and is less likely to provoke riots among
inner city kids. What the hell am I talking about? I don't know. Time to

Jazz Notes...
Hello all! Well as some of you may have
noticed we have been having some problems with our CTF server as of late. I think the time
has come that Freezer and I have finally given up on the Viking Mod project. They don't
update the site or Beta testers (ME) and there are still some unknown errors and crashes
that go on. I also suspect more than I did in the past that the Viking mod hinders
performance somewhat. Anyway we are looking at what we are going to do. We will take
suggestions from any clan members. Let me make one thing clear first... We are going to
run some sort of team/CTF type oriented mod. So don't go writing telling us to do some
single player mod. I will just say no...idiot. I will put "no" and
"idiot" in the reply email, hehe.
Speaking of idiots I guess I must either be one or I
missed something. I looked at that page below that Freezer mentioned about this mp3 shit.
I guess I missed that whole boat. Hirudin is making skins for it and I remember at one
time seeing Frag God playing with it on his PC. What's the freaking deal? I do not
understand it and I go to that site to find out more and it sounds like they work for NASA
with the description they give. I mean the best I can tell these are fancy media players
that only play their own music/media formats only (p.s. I do understand that some of them
play cd's)? Then you can use a bunch of different skins to make the player look different?
What's the freaking sense of that? You sit around and listen to only the stuff they
convert to these sh6.fr.mpz45.16 whatever the hell formats and change the player skins? I
guess I am lost. What's next a new calculator that has new skins and adds egyptian numeral
translations to the keys (of course all the while it makes the numbers look much clearer
in the display window and plays the key entry clicks in a high quality wav format which is
40 million decibels beyond our audible range, it can then automatically convert this data
to a MS frontpage web)?

make mention of you in my next article on Gamers Digest as I try to sound like I know what
I am talking about as I rip off everything you teach me, hehe. (Note: I just went to
the Winamp page, and it seems to explain more...hopefully I will learn something now,
heheh. That Soritong one though is still a mystery to me.)

Freezer Returns??
Kinda, but not really... I cannot
return unless I raise 50 million dollars and one of you kill that moron in the middle
east. I say we all go out this weekend and burn the Afghanistan flag in the
streets..what do you say.. any way, I have sorta returned..I will be online a bit more
often but I won't play everytime someone says "Lets go play"
I received a clan challenge today from the Hydro Clan. I guess one of you people out there
asked them for a challenge or something. We need to hold a formal practice sometime
before I reply to this challenge. We are in no way, shape, or form to play against
another clan. Case in point the friendly scrimmage with the IWG, ya'll remember that don't ya?? Well email me
with some dates and times we can all practice. That is all..good night
P.S. Send in those fresh Ben Franklins I am in need of
more treatment and if I don't raise 50 million dollars my computer will turn against me..

Jazz Notes...
Yes it is me. Sorry for the absence.
Just a few things...first the CTF server was down most of this weekend as some of you
probably noticed. I brought it up on Friday and by that early evening it crashed. I
connected remotely and brought it up again only to have it crash again 2 hours later. I am
not sure what the problem is. I went ahead and left it down and decided to look at it
today. I will probably reinstall the ctf files to see if that fixes it. If not it may be
close to time to completely wipe everything off and start from scratch. I shudder at
thinking about it but.....it may be needed. The weird thing is that the Action server
which runs on the same machine in the past crashed and the CTF was fine...now it is the
opposite. The Action server hasn't crashed at all since the latest version of it but now
the CTF is crashing....weird. I know it is not a resource issue because the servers were
running in perfect harmony there for about 2 or 3 weeks with no problems at one point. - Jazzman-X 1:36pm EST
Freezer's turn for rehab money
In the kind and compassionate manner
that we have come to associate with Freezer, he pleaded for your generosity back when I
needed help. He asked for money to help pay the Charter Glade bills when I turned to
crack to allow me to stay up all night making clan news page updates. None of you
cheapskate bastards sent any money in (at least as far as I know, maybe he just
pocketed the money), but I feel the need to return the kind favor. So I am
asking all of you today to send in your donations to help Freezer out in his long journey
of Quake2 rehab. The withdrawal symptoms he's experiencing are said to be quite
severe. He's been acting very out of character towards the friendly attendants who
have been assigned to him. It is said he has become easily irritated and often
shouts angry and obscene words at his visitors, and even *gasp* threats of physical
violence. Keeps mumbling something about "these morons on my team",
and "get out of my way when I have the flag
damn you!!", even though there's no one in
his room and he seems to be securely fastened to his bed. I humbly appoint myself
the coordinator of this relief effort, so send all of your money to me. So we can

New Action Quake update
For everyone out there who likes/wants
to try Action Quake, there is
a new release of it. Version v.95
is the latest version and is 6.7 megs (overnight download material). This release
contains only 2 maps, but the additional map
pack contains 18 more, and most servers run them all so you might as well get 'em too.
