The Clan has Spoken
OK, I didn't post the results yesterday, so shoot me.  :)  We have 24 out of 28 people responding so far, and that's enough to show the results.  Out of the 24 votes, there were only 2 'No's to joining OGL, (and one of them was ZapMan so it doesn't count :) and there were enough Yes's to each mod that we can have enough for at least a team in each one.  Although we'd still like to hear from the remaining four people, here are the official results:

11 people want to join an OGL team for AQ2.

8 people want to join an OGL team for CTF.

5 people are willing to be on teams in both mods.

24.9 is the average age of WC members, your useless statistical tidbit for the day.

Ideally, I think that each group of people that are entered as a team in OGL should have about 7 maybe 8 people in it.  The matches I believe are 5on5, so we would want at least 2 people extra for situations where someone can't make it to a match. We also don't want so many people on a team that nobody gets to play very much.   According to the voting results, we should (theoretically) have 16 people available to play AQ, and 13 available to play CTF.  This seems like a perfect amount for 2 AQ2 teams, and if we accepted another CTF player or two, we could have 2 CTF teams.  Or we could play it safe and assume that several people will have computer/real life problems and won't be able to play as much as they thought, and just have 1 CTF team for a while.   Send your thoughts on this to crew@neoreality.com

After talking with Jazz for a while, and maybe Freezer too I don't really remember, we decided that Jazz and myself are far too busy to be in charge of scheduling matches each week and communicating match info to everyone else in the clan. We just realized that things are happening too slowly because of our lack of free time, and we don't want this to drag everyone else in the clan down too.  So we're probably going to have another person on each team who will be the OGL captain and will be in charge of coordinating their teams for all OGL matters.  Depending on how many teams we have, we could have between 2 and 4 captains (1 for each team, you get it, right?).  The first such captains will be Black for AQ2 and Gator for CTF.  I think I've talked to both of them about this in the past, but I will ask them about it again to make sure they're still interested.  Jazz and I will still be available to help set up servers or update the news page or whatever, but these guys will be the ones you talk to and listen to for all match info.

Since basically everyone wants to be in OGL, we will begin configuring the servers to be OGL compliant over the next couple days so that we can use our own turf for matches.  So if you see the servers going up and down a lot or see some new weird menu items or whatever, you'll know what's going on.

I will try to make another form that has a question that I planned on putting on the first one, but forgot to.  We need to know what time slots are good for each one of you to play during the week.  If you want to, you can email this stuff right away, or you can wait for the form.  If you email it, make sure you say what nights you are available to play on, and for how long.  I'm going to go ahead and say that nothing will be scheduled before 5pm, so don't bother specifying for anything before that.   If we have enough high school people that can play after school that we can have a whole team of them, then that's fine.  But otherwise we will probably not be able to start matches before 8pm on weekdays.  So let us know what nights you are normally available/unavailable to play, and if you are available on weekends.

I will try to post some graphs and stuff showing the demographics of WC members' hardware and stuff, as soon as I figure out how to make the damn histographs in Excel.  I know I've done it before, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do them now.  Grrrrr!  (if you know, tell me so I don't waste more time looking for it)

More replies...
We've gotten a pretty good response from everyone in the clan so far.  Since I sent an email out yesterday, another 5 people went and filled it out.  They were: jundice, Malebolgia, Cheasy, RIPley, and jobujo.  So now the only remaining people that we have not heard from are: Radking, Toxoph, Skream, Viper, Oblique, Immoral, VooDoo, and Big J/Violent Marv.  If your name is not on this page in the last two days' posts, then your lazy ass never filled in your info in the member database. :)  I think I got everyone though.  Tomorrow I'll post the results of everyone who has filled them out so far, since we should have more than 75% of them done.

Questionnaire Results so far...
I'm not posting them yet.  We have about half of the people responding, so I'm going to send out emails to the remaining people in case they have not checked the news page in a while.  People who have filled out the form so far: Frag God, ZapMan, Freezer, Antimatter, CRuD, Treset, Cabman, Kakarotto, Jazzman-X, CyRiS, Black, Hirudin, Masume, Gator, Canadian.

If your name is on this list, and you did NOT fill out a questionnaire yet, let me know right away because someone was voting for you.   If your name is NOT on the list, then go fill it out. Once everyone has finished, we'll get started on signing up teams for OGL.

Questionnaire Ready!
Woo hoo. Go fill it out now.  You can finally stop bugging the hell out of me about when it's going to be done.  IT'S DONE!   Yippie.  (There's another one coming...)

Jobujo returns!
It appears that Jobujo has returned from the savage treacherous depths of wherever the hell he's been.  After several email inquiries from admins went unanswered over the last couple months, he was declared lost and moved to the MIA list.  But now it appears that he will be available to aid our (possible) invasions of the OGL world!  Write Jobujo an email at achancej@bellsouth.net, and tell him how happy you are that he's still alive.  :)

Kakarotto accepted as new WC member
After much debate and inquiries, we have decided to allow Kakarotto into our clan.  His contact information is available in the Member Database.  Kakarotto is always on the AQ server, so you AQ guys will probably see him soon if you haven't already.

LanBlast.com now open
Although it's far from finished, www.lanblast.com is now available to da public.  (Turn up your speakers and make your browser full screen, baby!) There is still a lot of text to add, and there are no comments for the photos yet, but you can see all the photos anyway.  There is still much more to be added to the Flash intro too, but we wanted to have something up so you can see sorta what it will look like.  The old lanblast stuff is still available at www.lanblast.com/oldsite for now, until we get a chance to integrate it.

Crew Member questionnaires delayed...
Sorry for the delay, but I planned on setting up the questionnaire Friday after work, and we ended leaving immediately after work because Jazzman's car broke down and we had to go pick his ass up.  :)

So I'll hopefully set it up as soon as possible.   Also, if anyone has any last opinions about Kakarotto, please email them to frag@neoreality.com so we can give this jerky an answer!  heheh

Crew Member questionnaires coming soon
Tomorrow or Friday we will have up one or more questionnaires on several important issues that we need input on.  They will cover some or all of the following: What kind of computer hardware you have, what settings/maps you would like added to the CTF server now that it's up all the time, whether you are interested in our clan joining an OGL ladder for CTF/AQ and how much time you would be willing/able to devote to such events, and a couple other things that need to be settled fairly soon.  After we get the results to these forms, we will try to schedule some kind of big clan meeting in ICQ or IRC or something where we can all discuss what direction our clan will be taking.  But we really need to get this information from each person one at a time without the chaos of mass conversations.  I will probably send out an email/ICQ message to everyone after it's up to remind you.

AQ server in use tonight
The AQ server will be passworded tonight.  6e9 is borrowing it for a clan match which should last about an hour.   If you try to get on our server and can't, check the qplug on the servers page to see if the match is still going on before you email us about it.

Quake Demos of last Friday's game against GS available
The demos I recorded are now available in the WC Members section (click here to download them directly).  If any GS members would like them, please send me an email and I will be happy to send the zip file to you.

AQ map file update
The original armyterr.zip file that was on the Files Page was incomplete.  MapDepot does not carry it, and at the time we added it to the server, MapZone was down.  So I created a zip file based on what textures the map tried to read when I loaded it.  I did not include the textures for the sky tho, because I had them already from some other maps that use the same sky textures.   So if you downloaded the armyterr.zip file from our web server, and have seen a bunch of red squares in the sky, go download it again.   If you have seen the blue sky like normal, then you had already downloaded another map with the same sky, and you do NOT need to redownload this file.  Sorry for the confusion.

*WC members only site updated..(fix)
I just updated the members only site with a fix to the Hirudin CTF tip that I posted yesterday.  Hirudin wanted to add a readme as well as fix the bind for the trick.  If you downloaded it please go get the file again as it should work now.

**AQ Match This Friday (2 days from, again)
The match that was scheduled for Thursday has been postponed till Friday night.  Same time, same server, same bat channel.  Also, I saw this page on the GS web site and I thought it was a good thing for everyone to go read before we start another match.   We've had a couple problems in the past with people joining a team right away when the maps change and people getting disconnected, so go refresh yourself on those few rules.

Everyone who told me they could make it to the match on Thursday has told me that they can make it on Friday too.  If you couldn't be there on Thursday, but you CAN be there on Friday, and you want to play, do that email thing baby!

The Crew needs your help!!
We updated our servers to the latest edition of BW-Admin. We think this may help with the CTF server crash problem. We are asking for all WC members to please help us test this out tonight. Try to go onto the server for at least an hour or so and just see if all works ok. If it crashes while you are on the server please email us and let us know what happen. Your help is appreciated.  - Jazzman-X [4:45 pm EST]

WC members only site updated..
I just updated the members only site with some more of Hirudin's CTF tricks and tips complete with demos of the little known trick, or soon to be widely known.hehe.  So go check it out.  If you need the username and password you can email me and I will send it out to you, otherwise just go download the neat little trick he has perfected.

*AQ Match This Thursday (2 days from now)
We got a clan challenge from clan Goon Squad (GS), and it will be this Thursday night at 9pm (see matches box above).  I wanted to start using the "teams" for our next AQ match, but there just isn't enough time to allow everyone to read up on it.  So for this match we're just going to take whoever can make on a first come first server basis.  Email me as soon as you read this and tell me if you can be there for the match and how long you can play for.  There is a limited number of spots available because this will be a 5on5 match, so if the match roster is full, there will be no surprise showing up when it starts.

We have some more matches lined up after this, so if you can't make it at this one don't worry about it.  Also, a new version of BW-Admin was just released today, and hopefully Jazz will get to go update the servers with that and some new configs soon.  If the CTF server doesn't work with plain old CTF and BW-Admin, then we'll have to look into running one on a different machine or something.
