Toxoph goes from park to 450 mph!
Just wanted to pass along that Toxoph has got his computer up and running as of a couple hours ago. If you guys remember he has done the old Celeron 300a/abit BH-6 Overclock to 450mhz deal. He had a few initial problems with getting his video card working again but....after a couple hours of reinstalling he got it all smoothed out with not a whole lot of problems.

After he got everything running we went into the sweet bios on the Abit BH-6 board and he just bumped the processor up to 450/100 and he had to pop the voltage up to 2.2. We then restarted it and BOOM!!! He now has a 450mhz speed demon.

So you guys know also...the entire upgrade was not that expensive. Prior to this he had a P133 with 32mb. Here is the list of things he bought:

  • Celeron 300a (slot1)
  • Abit BH-6 motherboard
  • (1) 64mb Dimm (note: he actually got 128mb by accident. They put 2 simms in package, hehe)
  • Mid-tower case
  • 2 fans (1 on processor and 1 mounted inside back of case)

Total cost for everything.... $355.00. Not too shabby if you ask me. He was able to use all his other existing components. So...you guys should all see him back on the servers soon a much happier man, hehe. If you have any questions feel free to email him at this address: tim@iline.com .  - Jazzman-X-[4:15 pm EST]

Frag God babbles
Although I was severely annoyed for a little while in the middle of the match, I still had a lot of fun playing it.  I guess I have just gotten used to playing with lots of unorganized unskilled people on the server in public mode, because playing against these guys was much more difficult than normal.  The only thing that really got me mad was fighting the last 3 guys by myself in the final round of teamjungle... killing two and injuring the third guy, only to lose because I had a little bit less health left than he did.  AARRRGGHHHH!  I know we won a round in the same manner, but anyone would be pissed if that happened to you too.   I'm not saying it shouldn't count or anything like that.  I'm saying that the round timelimit was imposed for internet play, so that some schmuck doesn't keep falling to an unreachable place and bringing the game to a halt for 45 minutes.  Organized clans don't usually suffer this problem in a match, and so I think we should get rid of the timelimit or at least set it much higher.

I want to congratulate 6e9 for putting up a great fight and being such hard bastards to kill.  Eventually I will be able to kill you snipers without dying in the process.  Thank god for grenades and my John Elway arm... heheh

Scrimmage with 6e9...
It was a great success. The match went very well and ended as a ..... to be continued....in progress.....ummm tie. We played 4 maps and each clan won their selected maps. So...we will just say it was a tie that is to be continued. I did a quick write up of the match that you can see here: Scrimmage Info. Or you can go to it via the link on the menu to the left.

I also added the medals to the roster page for all WC members that were at the match. Good job guys. I felt we played very well considering many factors. Look forward to getting us a few more matches in the future including a rematch with 6e9. Great job to 6e9 also. You guys are always fun to play with and without a doubt I hold more respect for your clan than any other I have ever played with. - Jazzman-X-[10:15 am EST]

March 30, 1999 - AQ2 scrimmage vs. 6e9 TONIGHT!   ...MAYBE...

***Problem fixed??
Well the lines seem to be back up. We have not had official word on it so....we do not know if it is a temp fix or what. Guess we will just have to hang in there and see what happens. Anyway, things are working right this second. I will see you guys on later...maybe, hehe. - Jazzman-X-[4:15 pm EST]

***Match may be postponed!
We just found out that the ISP here that our server is on, as well as quite a few clan members use, has been cut off from the rest of the world.  Apparently Sprint (the phone company) has had a "fiber cut" somewhere under water, and has sent out some guy on a boat to dive down and fix it.  They expect it to take until 6 or 7pm tonight at a MINIMUM to fix it...

So the server will be down until at least then, if not all night.  Everyone go ahead and check to see if its back up around the time the match is supposed to start, but if its down, and Me and Jazzman and Freezer and Toxoph are not online, you know why.  If it remains down until about 9:30 or 10:00, we'll just call it off and reschedule for another time.

Of course this means the CTF server will be down too, for anyone who was going to play on there.

If anyone on either clan wants to contact me or whatever, ICQ doesn't work to well so I never run it anymore, but if you have AOL Instant Messenger, you can add my name to your list, which is "Orius Khan".  You can also email me too, but I don't check it as often.  All the other guys' won't be able to check their emails until this is fixed.

[3:25pm EST]

*Match TONIGHT!!!
I know that you guys realize this but I have to make a big deal about it just in case one of you forgot. Anyway...I will have the server running the proper maps, skins and all around 5pm EST. Around about 7pm I will shut server down and restart with password lock. This way you guys can go in and make sure you can get the password to work, tweak settings, check your pings, whatever you have to do. I will be on the server around 6pm to get a few minutes of open practice. Then I will reset the server with password.

I will probably check out my settings etc and then go to another server to play some unless there are several people there to warm-up with. I want to have the server up with the password early enough so people having problems logging in can take care of it early before the match. If you have a problem either email me quickly or ICQ FRaG GoD or Freezer. See you guys tonight.... - Jazzman-X-[12:15 pm EST]

March 29, 1999 -AQ2 scrimmage vs. 6e9 TOMORROW!!!

Match correction...
I made a mistake. FRaG GoD is actually the first alternate for the match tomorrow and Antimatter is the second. It really will not make much of a difference because I will probably swap both of them in on the second map for 2 player that play on the first. The only likely exception to that may be Big J because he said he may have connection problems which could keep him from starting. Anyway, if that is the case I will let Antimatter and FRaG God decide between the 2 of them which plays actcity2 and which plays teamjungle (FRaG GoD getting first choice).

Again, regardless if you show up I guarantee you will get some play time. It may be on the third or fourth map....but you will get to play. - Jazzman-X-[10:15 pm EST]

*Match updates...
I got an email from Blake a little while ago. There has been one map change for tomorrow nights match. Here is the complete map rotation:

1st map (WC choice) - Actcity2
2nd map (6e9 choice) - Team Jungle
3rd map (WC) - Cliff
4th map (6e9) - Actcity3
5th map (for fun) - Hostage2

Also Antimatter is the 1st alternate for tomorrow night. He let me know he was going to make it now so...if someone does not show or whatever...he is the first one to get in to the match. Also, Blake if you read this...spectators are fine. I will have the server set to 12. So that would leave room for 1 or 2 spectators on each team.

Everyone remember to be there around 915pm or so in order to get configs set, get organized, warm up etc. - Jazzman-X-[5:35 pm EST]

WC members log some kill time...
I took a look at the CLQ clan ranking this morning. I was not really so concerned with ranking etc but I was impressed that we had so many members play over 100 minutes over the last week. I count 9 members over 100 minutes (take note that Big J and Violent Marv are the same person). Very cool that we had so many guys on playing AQ2 over that period. The most total WC members we have had in quite a while that did play at least 100 minutes. Here is the list of who logged some frag time:

Wrecking Crew- Action Quake time stats:
Week Period Name Rank Minutes Frags
OFFICIAL Mar 21 - Mar 27 (WC)-FRaG GoD 172 881 573
    (WC)-Immoral 198 1,265 719
    (WC)-CyRiS 736 546 265
    (WC)-Freezer 1,631 346 161
    (WC)-BiG J * 2,059 258 135
    (WC)ViolentMarv * 2,299 232 125
    (WC)-Jazzman-X 2,877 153 97
    (WC)jobujo 3,273 149 75
    (WC)-AntiMatter 3,341 165 72
    (WC)-ZapMan 6,178 103 20

I do want to say good job to FRaG GoD and Immoral on getting in the top 200. I do have to make a comment on Immoral's Minutes. HOLY COW!!! Hehe. 1265 minutes is...how to say......quite impressive. That's like 21 hours! That is a part time job!!! Hehe, old boy logged some serious minutes last week. Good job, I wish I could have fit in that many minutes. Maybe someday I will.

Hell, even FRaG GoD logged a very high amount which is without a doubt the most he has ever logged in a month much less a week. I do not really pay attention to anything except the minutes from CLQ so good job to everyone for making a good showing of WC online last week. I took a quick look at WC minutes this week and saw that Antimatter, CyRiS, Freezer and FRaG GoD are all over 100 minutes already. I am going to try my hardest to get at least 200-300 minutes this week. Lets see how many more guys we can get over 100 minutes this week! C'mon lets get 11 or 12!!! We need Toxoph, @myth, and maybe Gator and Ripley to help us out.

On a side note we had 5 WC members log over 100 minutes on CTF last week. I am going to attempt to get a double this week. 100 minutes on both. Nobody did it last week...lets see how many of you can get a double with me.

FragBoard UPDATED!!!
I went and compiled the stats for quite a long period on the CTF server. I am not sure if this is truly the stats for that entire period but it is for at least a good chunk of it. I would say at least the last month and a half. Anyway...if you go to the FragBoard page you will see I re-organized it. I now have it where you get a menu of the past stats and each one opens into its own window. Part of the reason for this is that if you wanted to it is easy to open all the past stats into separate windows and compare how you have done to each set of stats. Anyway....it is more organized and congrats on Gator on nailing down the #1 spot. - Jazzman-X-[1:15 pm EST]

Minor site changes...
As you may have noticed I cleaned up the information boxes above. I made the top box a server updates section and the bottom practices & challenges section. They were getting messy so I am hoping they will be more organized and informative now.

The IWG practice is a assumed practice. I have not had confirmation on that as of yet. If I get word from Gator or Skube I will post it here. - Jazzman-X-[12:35 pm EST]

*CTF Match...vs. IWG...on hold
I Gator was trying to organize a CTF match with IWG but we got an email back from Skube saying that we needed to hold off a couple weeks due to some changes and other things going on over at IWG. So....it is on hold. Hopefully Gator can find us some other CTF clan to get a friendly scrimmage match with.

Maybe that Cajun Mafia clan? They were fun to play with and good sports? Anyway check back here for any new updates. - Jazzman-X-[12:35 pm EST]

***AQ2 Match...vs. 6e9...NEXT TUESDAY!
I have been talking with Blake of 6e9. We are getting all the details ironed out for our scrimmage match next Tuesday. Right now it looks as if we are pushing back the start time to like 930-1000pm EST. The server will be locked down. I will send an email to everyone tonight with the password and some other notes and comments on maps, people playing etc.

I need EVERYONE to email me and tell me if you are gonna play and be there. I need to know who I can count on. Right now I know CyRiS and Immoral are gonna be there. A few others have said maybe. I need to know now who is gonna play. Everyone please email me and let me know. This is gonna be like 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 teamplay. I will give the other details in the email tonight. - Jazzman-X-[12:35 pm EST]

Scary yet funny message board post...
I saw this post over on the gangland.org message board. Pretty damn funny message on how this guy points out something that is inaccurate in the game. After you read it a few times though it actually gets kinda scary. Read that 4th line carefully, hehe.

"Actually, I don't have much to criticize. I love the demo. BUT--one thing bugs me. It's a relatively small thing, and I hope it changes by the time the full game comes out ... Lead pipes and crow bars should not leave BULLET HOLES when used on someone. Believe me, I've killed a lot of people in real life with lead pipes and crow bars and I don't remember them ever leaving neat little round holes as they do in Kingpin. Those holes look fine for pistols and shotguns, but I hope the pain skins are changed for blunt weapon attacks--I'd even prefer NO pain skins, just blood sprays, to using the same pain skins for bullets and blunt weapons ... Just my two cents."

Kingpin final opinion
I think this game is awesome. Very well done and I am now anticipating this game almost as much as Q3A and Diablo 2. The demo is truly amazing in my opinion. I just cannot wait to play the full game. The interaction with characters, the gameplay elements, graphics, sounds, etc are all excellent. I have played the demo through twice and plan to do it at least 2 or 3 more times (different difficulty levels, with all weapons cheat and so on). If right this minute I was only going to be able to buy 3 games this year it would be Q3A, Diablo 2 and Kingpin. That should sum up how much I like this game. I would love to hear comments from any of you on what you thought of the Kingpin demo. - Jazzman-X-[12:35 pm EST]

Is now known as "BiG J".   Had some kind of religious conversion or something.  Don't know if he can still eat pork.

Early Kingpin opinion...
It kicks major ass!!! I really think it is a great game. I only played it for like 20 minutes and did not finish it yet but...I was highly impressed with what I saw. This is a next generation FPS game. Daikatana can go to hell!! This game has some original things going on and is very fresh and well executed. I need to play it more to really have a true solid opinion. So far it appears this game is gonna be #2 on my buying list right behind Q3A. I will update with some more tomorrow. Here is another opinion on it:

(WC)-Canadian:
"Well that Kingpin demo is the shit, it is amazing!  The Graphics are really really good, but l would recommend having a pretty good system, my k6-2 300 with 64 mb pc-100 mhz ram, g200, M2 v2 8mb is chugging away here playing the game, only takes a long time to load the different areas and stuff..
reat game, and all the WC should like it...gangsta Style!"

"Who the F$%K are you?"
I just added 4 member bio's on the roster page. Gator, Immoral, Voodoo and CyRiS. Check them out and keep sending them in. If you guys want any changes made to your current one just let me know. I may still tweak them some but they are ok for right now until I get more done. I got one more to do but it may not be up until tomorrow.

Also if any of you have a suggestion for a section to add on the Bio's just let me know and we can take a look at it.- Jazzman-X-[10:35 pm EST]

Saboteur in the midst...
I just went over to CLQ for the first time in like a month. Just out of curiosity I checked out my stats. The week is now starting March 21-27. I have not played in the last 2 days yet it showed me with 79 minutes and 0 frags!!! Yeah right!!! That shit is WHACKED!!! Needless to say that is one of the many reasons I started ignoring that shit a long time ago. It is not accurate and people can screw with your stats if they want to. Looking at my stats is perfect proof...now the question is who is spiking my stats?
Hmmmm.....well to quote one of my favorite recent movies..."Fuck it dude..lets go bowling." All I know is if someone wants to see my "Rank" I can showcase it by putting some caps in their CLQ preaching ass. (Sorry for outburst, it has been a long day and I am anxious to get home and play Kingpin) -
Jazzman-X-[4:05 pm EST]

Crew Bio's
I have received like 3 or 4 of your bio's for the roster page. I will try to get those up tonight. Along with that I will be finishing up how those pages look. I came up with a few more ideas to make them cool today. If any of the rest of you want to get a bio posted then send me the information and a picture. Follow the format of info that is on my temporary test one (go to roster page and click on my name). If you are confused or have questions email me. - Jazzman-X-[4:05 pm EST]

Old New Old Map of the Week Returns
The Classic Map of the Week for this week is Office3.  It was the map of the week from a little while ago so many of you may already have it.  If not you can download it from the links above.  It is about 1.09 Megs.

Heavy Explosives Tested in Demolition Site
Me and several other clan members played on the AQ server last night.  I decided to see what effect having more grenades would have on the game, so I changed it so that everyone who picked the bandolier got 5 grenades.  I don't think we should keep it as the regular setting, but I thought it was pretty fun!  Opinion of the other players seemed to be divided along the same lines as they normally are; everyone either really liked it or hated it.  Adding more grenades just strengthened their opinion about it.  The surprising thing was that for most of the time, grenade kills didn't increase dramatically.  For the first few rounds a lot of people got blown away right away, but after that people seemed to learn how to avoid them and maybe 1 person per round would die from them.  The different maps had a big effect on how effective the grenades were.  When I first enabled them on Urban2, probably everyone on the server picked bandolier, but we had only maybe 15 grenade kills the entire map.  When it went to hostage2 however, people were blowing up left and right, many of them thanks to (WC)-Immoral who turned into a grenade fiend on that level heheh.

So anyway I thought it was pretty fun, as did most of the people who replied each time I asked.  The people who didn't think grenades belonged in teamplay at all made sure they were heard, but it seemed like more people enjoyed it than not.  It definitely seemed a lot more like Saving Private Dick errr ryan with explosions everywhere and people afraid to walk around the corner.  If you guys can think of any interesting server changes that might be a fun experiment, tell me or Jazzman and we might try them out some time.  (I've already tried low gravity on our LAN here and it is really fun, but most internet people seem to think it would not be a good idea)

Update on Toxoph's upgrades
Toxoph just ordered his new motherboard, processor and memory today. He should have it in a week or less. Just a word of warning to some of you considering an upgrade soon. Toxoph is going to try the old Celeron 300a/Abit BH-6 overclock upgrade. When he called to order these components a couple places told him they did not have and could not get the right processor to pull off what he was wanting to do. He finally found a place that did. But I guess they are getting scarce and once the places that have them run out they cannot get any to restock.

So if you were considering doing this type of upgrade you may want to get on the ball and do it soon. Also once again if any of you guys that have said you did this type of upgrade (Hirudin, Jobujo...ahemm) have any advice, tips, things to make sure of etc. please email Toxoph with that info: tim@iline.com .  - Jazzman-X-[11:55 am EST]

Jazz gets Q3A shirt...finally
I finally got the Q3A shirt I ordered like a month ago. I was trying to get it in time for LB2 but as you can see it was a little late. Oh well...you guys know what I will be wearing for LB3, hehe. The shirt is very nice and well made. I got Jazzman-X put on the back and everything. I ordered it in a Extra Large and that seems to be about right. Anyway if any of you decide to get one you can get to the page to order it by clicking the picture below.

Jazzman-X going Gang Banging...
Well kinda. I now have in my grubby little imitation gangsta' hands on the Kingpin demo burned on a CD thanks to Toxoph. I will be checking it out tonight. Gator emailed me telling me he had it also. I am really looking forward to checking it out. This is the first of the FPS games that I have been looking forward to.

I will post up some comments about it on here tomorrow morning sometime. If any of you WC, IWG or 6e9 guys have played it send me an email with your opinions on it. I will put up a little page with all of our opinions for fellow clan members to check out. If you do send me comments please include the system specs you played it on so it will help people to gauge the performance they may get.

Also, I have the demo up on a private site. If any of you are interested in downloading it from the site I have it email me and I will tell you where to go. The big public servers have been real busy so this may save you some time. - Jazzman-X-[9:55 am EST]

Freezer goes to X-fest 2
Well you guys local to the Ft. Myers/Naples area will know what I'm talking about but for those of you who don't, X-Fest 2 was a all day concert featuring some kick ass music.  The bands that were there were..Gymo, Sonic Chrome, Jimmy's Chicken Shack, D Generation, Virgos Merlot, Finger 11, Cracker, and Everclear.

The two best bands Everclear and and D Generation, the other were just average to me.  Everclear was by far worth waiting from 12:00pm to about 8:00pm and a bunch of average bands for.  Hell it only took the Everclear roadies about an hour to set up and tune all their shit.  Over all the day was great, except for the ass munches who decided to start throwing plastic Pepsi bottles into the crowd and at the bands, and the dumbass who decided it was time for him and his girlfriend to go and started pushing her to the ground and pushing her face into the ground like a dope. The lack of sufficient piss houses for the 20,000+ people who where there really pissed a lot of people off (pardon the pun ;), hell any time you have that many people and have only 10-15 porto potties its going to be a long day.. I'm adding this to my calendar for next year..hell the tix were only $5.99 cheap enough for a crackhead to buy..hehe - Freezer [9:34pm EST]

Automated server messages...
We now have (thanks to FRaG GoD) a small program of sorts set up where the server admins can send a message to the WC game servers that everyone playing will see without us actually having to come into the game.

This will be used to message WC members on the servers playing with info you may want to hear. Typical uses of this will be to inform you if we are all going to a particular server to play, if something is happening on the other WC server, let you know the clan web page was just updated, etc.

So you may see a message pop up from the console that looks like this:
console: **Automated Server Message- WC members, clan site updated.**
console: **End transmission...**

This is a remotely sent message if it starts like that so do not try to talk to the console and expect an answer. We are not in the game. Just think of it as a WC news ticker on the servers. Hehe. Anyway any feedback is welcome. - Jazzman-X-[11:05 am EST]

Kingpin demo
Well it is out. This morning as soon as it was announced Toxoph started downloading it in order to burn on a CD for me. It took forever (it is 107mb) and right when it got to the end and said download complete it then said "Could not write file to specified location". That was it. No demo. So we were pissed. The servers are so congested now you cant get any kind of decent download speed no matter what the connection. So we will try to get it again early tomorrow morning.

If we get it I may put it up for WC members to download from the same server as where our game servers are (not on NeoReality). If I do this I will make a news update as soon as it is in place. - Jazzman-X-[11:05 am EST]

Happy 3rd Birthday Wrecking Crew!!!!!!!!!!!
We are 3 years old. This month 3 years ago is when Freezer, Toxoph, Zapman and Myself started the legend that is now WC. All of you should be proud to be in a clan that has such a great background and has been around so long. We have had several new members come on board this year and we all continue to get along and have a great time together. We are up to around 23 members and have new people begging to get in all the time.

This next year should be great. We are planning to do at least 1 or 2 more LAN BLAST events by the end of 1999. We also have Quake 3 Arena coming soon along with several other great FPS titles to keep us busy. We are planning to get involved in a few more tournaments in the coming months as well. We will also get involved in any team Q3A tournaments once the title is out.

So again I wish all of you a Happy B-day! Make sure to wish your fellow clan members a happy b-day when you see them on the servers. - Jazzman-X-[12:05 am EST]

WC Member Bio's
I decided to start putting small bio pages for each member on the roster page. The only one I have done so far is mine. It is in very rough form and I am sure will change numerous times before I get it how I want. If you guys want to have a page too send me info for all the areas that appear on mine. (You click on my name on roster page) For the picture send me what you want to use. If you can get it at a size of 150x150 pixels it would be appreciated. If you just want me to come up with a picture for you let me know (BTW: Mine is just a temp, I will come up with something cool later, hehe)

Like I said before this is in the early planning and layout phases so just send what you want and we will add it as we get the whole thing done. - Jazzman-X-[12:05 am EST]

New home page graphic...
I had 10 minutes and was tired of the old one. Let me know what you think. If any of you aspiring graphic artists want to take a shot at making a intro page graphic for the clan site go ahead. Just keep it about the same dimensions as the one there and also incorporate the same info. - Jazzman-X-[9:55 pm EST]

Search for Aliens with your Computer
This has nothing to do with Quake or anything but I thought it was kind of interesting.  The Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is setting up a worldwide program to allow home PC users with an internet connection to help process data gathered from the Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico.  People will download a screensaver program that instead of drawing little fishes and bubbles on the screen, will scan the telescope data for radio communication signals from other stars.  You can go here for more info. Click on the link that says "SETI@Home".

***Action Quake Scrimmage match!!!
Ok I have had one person respond to the post about who wants to play in the scrimmage match vs. 6e9. This is a server locked down scrimmage. I need to know who wants to play and will show up so I can make out rosters. This will also count towards roster page medals (and for LB name tag designations) for playing or showing up for a AQ2 match.

Everyone who wants to play in this match let me know. It is not an official tournament match but it is the next best thing. Again we are trying to set it up for Tuesday, March 30th at 9pm EST on our server. It will be a 5 on 5 scrimmage playing at least 3-4 maps. They will be time limit rounds (Probably 10-15 minutes per map).  - Jazzman-X-[2:25 pm EST]

(WC)-Toxoph doing upgrade...
Toxoph is getting ready to do the infamous Abit-BH6 / Celeron 300a overclock upgrade that I know at least 2 or 3 of you guys have already done. I am sure if any of you have any advice, tips, lessons learned etc to share with him it would be appreciated. Here is is email address: tim@iline.com . He has already ordered the board, processor and dimm's that he needed I think. He did know what he needed from several sources. Now its just going to be getting it and actually making it work. So you overclock experts help a fellow WC member out. - Jazzman-X-[11:55 am EST]

(WC)-@myth has a computer!
Some of you may know that @myth is my cousin. He did not have a computer of his own and used to play on one of my computers. He now has his own. It still needs a few things but he is up and running with working email and all. His email address is dan@neoreality.com make sure to drop him a email and welcome him to the online world. You should start seeing him popping up on the servers more in about a week or 2 after we get him a accelerator card.

Thanks go out to Gator and Loren for helping me to get the pieces to get him this far. Everything works great. - Jazzman-X-[11:55 am EST]

Kingpin demo this weekend...
I saw over at Blues that the Kingpin demo is coming out this weekend. This is one of about 3 titles I am looking forward to. The demo is rumored to be about 100mb!!! That is one hell of a download!! I guess it is justified though because the demo gives you like one whole episode of the game. It is a single player only demo though. I am really hoping it comes in under 100 so I can DL at work and slap on a zip disk. If not I am gonna have to bug Gator to fire up his CD burner, hehe.- Jazzman-X-[11:55 am EST]

***AQ2 Scrimmage with 6e9...
I am shooting for a Tuesday March 30th at 9pm EST as a scrimmage match with 6e9. This is not a official tournament match but a official scrimmage with planned maps and set round times etc. Blake if you read this let me know how that sounds. I will check your page for any updates also.

This will be a locked down 5 on 5 scrimmage match. I would like any of you that want to be involved and to play in this to let me know now so I can start making up rosters. Also in WC members that have preferences on maps to play let me know. I am thinking we will play 4 maps. 2 selected by us and 2 by them. We will play a 5th as a tie breaker if both clans feel like it. I will post more information as available.- Jazzman-X-[4:05 pm EST]

LB2 section...
I think the LB2 section came out great. Thanks to FRaG God for helping to get all that set up. In case you guys didn't notice the little button to the left says LAN BLAST 2 now. Click on it to check out all the highlights of LB2. We all had a great time and just remember if you did not make it to LB2 then make sure to start getting ready for LB3 in June/July. Take a look at the pictures to get an idea of some of what to expect.

Again if any of you guys who came to LB2 have any suggestions for anything on LB3 make sure to send them to me so I can add them to the list for our organization meeting. We will be having a big meeting to plan LB3 in a couple weeks and I will submit any ideas you guys have. You should start hearing some info about LB3 around the end of April. - Jazzman-X-[11:05 am EST]

CTF Practice?
Last night we had CTF practice with iwg on our server. The following were present at least for short periods: Jazzman-X, Gator, Ripley, Cheazee? and Cyris. They had around 5 or so people show as well. The practice went good in short spurts. We had server problems that caused the server to crash 3 times and I had to keep restarting. I think I may have figured out the problem. I think that since I had both servers up and there was so much traffic on both..plus I had the server very low on HD space I think it all combined to make the server crash the quake2.exe.

I shut the AQ2 server down after like the 3rd crash and it was fine after that. Although we did not get everyone back after I did this to prove the theory. From now on when we have practice on one server the other will be down that night. At least until I get the servers on the new dual 400 we are getting configured here. Then I will run 8 servers all set to 32 players, Muwaaaa haaaaa haaa haa (I am kidding...maybe)

So if any of you wondered why the AQ2 server was down for a short time last night that is why.  - Jazzman-X-[11:05 am EST]

CTF Practice Tonight
For those of you who check email once a week, there's CTF practice tonight with IWG on OUR server.  If it's down, then try iwg.org.  If that's down too, then look at the CTF servers on our servers page and see if there's a bunch of WC or IWG on one of them.  If they're all down too, then smack yourself in the head and yell "Ain't technology great!"

LB2 section completed
Well we can finally get rid of that big ugly box at the top of this page.  We have some pictures up with some descriptions to go along with them.  I think we got almost everybody in at least one picture, so everyone who couldn't make it can see proof that we actually do exist and did have a big party. heheheh

You can go to the LB2 section by clicking on the LAN Blast button to the left, or clicking here.

We may add a few more pictures later on, but this is about it, and we'll post here if there are any updates.

LB2 withdrawals
Man...I do not know about you guys but the last day or so I have already started wanting LB3 to come along. Hehe. For like a week there after LB2 I was glad it was over. I was so tired and sore that I couldn't even think about the next one. Now that I am recovered I am already starting to get in the "How long till the next one..." phase.

Some of you may think I am crazy but LB2 was a kickass time for me and I cannot wait until the next one.

CTF Server changes
I updated the Lithium server to version 1.24 Beta 1 (Thx Freezer). I also did something that should help to get more traffic on the server. I did not have the CTF server set to ping any master servers except the Lithium one. So now it goes to id and planetquake. That should help to bring in more vict..umm ..I mean players. :)  - Jazzman-X-[3:35 pm EST]

Wrecking Crew banner?
Well I was goofing with a new graphics program tonight and as always when experimenting I make a WC related item. This was not really intended as anything but if any of you guys that have personal pages want to use it for a banner link or something go ahead. Nothing real special but useable.

Daikatana... a few more points
After thinking on it some more I did want to say a few more things about Daikatana for you guys that have not downloaded it yet. After reading my comments below I felt I put a little too much of a positive spin on it.

It is pretty cool but....it just is nothing really new. The graphics are nice but basically just Q2 graphics with a more colorful texture set. The game is not in the league with Unreal or Half-Life as far as graphic flare goes. The weapons are cool but nothing really new or inspiring. No secondary fire modes, nothing really original,,,just tried and true good weapons.

I guess my real opinion of the demo is that it is good..just not awesome. It is not a ground breaking game like I feel Q3A or Team Fortress 2 will be. If I have extra cash when it comes out I may buy it but if it is on the shelf at the same time as the 2 titles I just mentioned....I wont be helping to boost Bunghole Romero's ego. I would really like to hear any opinions you guys have about it though.  - Jazzman-X-[12:05 pm EST]

LB1/LB2 icon needed...
We need a small icon for the roster page. I just have text there now. If anyone has an idea send it to FRaG GoD. I know he did the ones there so he can look at any submissions or ideas you guys have.  - Jazzman-X-[10:05 am EST]

Daikatana...
Well I got the demo from Gator on Saturday. I played online Mplayer with it for like 2 hours the other night and 2 hours on Sunday. @myth was at my house at he tried it for like an hour also. I will start off by saying it is better than I thought it would be. There are only 2 levels on the demo but both of them are excellent DM levels. Very well done and fun to play.

The weapons are very cool....with the exception of one... The sticky bomb grenade gun has got to be changed some. There is one weapon that you can shoot proximity type bombs that will stick to walls etc. At first these seemed very cool. Then I got on this one server where dickwads were totally abusing them. They would stick them all over spawn spots, stick 20 of them around armor and weapons, put 10 of them at the top of ladders, and on and on. The shit got big time aggravating. I got killed twice in a row on spawning one time! That was like 3 deaths in 5 seconds!!!

The bad part is they stay forever unless they get blown up by a rocket or someone gets  killed on them. Even if you die your bombs stay around. That shit sucks in my opinion.

The other 3 weapons were very cool. The dual rocket launcher kicks major ass and it seems you can rocket jump very easy and very high. I rocket jumped like 3 stories one time!!

The graphics are good, good models, and the game played very smooth even over a 56k connection. It was not quite as smooth as Q2 but very close. (Note: I just saw at Blues some tips to improve pings.) I am sure they can refine it more. I was only on a server with 5 guys at the most..maybe with more it would lag bad? Hard to say. Anyway seems pretty cool. If any of you have opinions on it send them to me and I will post them here in the news section for you. This way skeptics can see a few opinions.  - Jazzman-X-[10:05 am EST]

New WC worker...
We have a new demolition expert in the Wrecking Crew. Immoral is now a part of the clan. We extended open invitations to all LAN BLAST 2 attendees and he decided to accept. We are glad to have him. He is a great AQ player and also seemed to be getting in the groove on CTF at LB2. I will add him to the roster page today and will also send him a welcome email with access to the members page, etc.

Make sure you guys welcome him aboard when you see him. Just don't play against him on Teamjungle when he is up in the cliffs sniping, hehe.  - Jazzman-X-[10:05 am EST]

More movie update
I don't normally post reviews here but I'll add my .02 on the movies currently playing, since we had like a three-month dry spell there for a while with no good movies at all. The Corruptor is an excellent movie, but as Frag says, don't expect Yun Fat's regular slick moves. I personally prefer Replacement Killers. Last night, Jundice and myself went to see Analyze This. If you liked Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco, etc. then you'll absolutely die laughing in that movie. DeNiro has so many funny lines. A great film. - ZapMan [4:42 pm EST]

Movie update
Jundice, Zapman, and myself all went last night and chose to see The Corrupter.  While I will say it was cool, I would definitely not describe it as kick ass.  It had a very serious plot development, which can get a little confusing, but the awesome shoot outs that we normally associate with Mr. Fat (heheh) just weren't there.  There were some pretty good  scenes sure, but nothing that blows you away.  I don't know any more about Wing Commander than I did a few weeks ago, but I will probably end up going to see it anyway just for the hell of it, and because I know people who work at our local theater and don't have to worry about paying for it.  As for Corrupter, I'd be willing to pay $4.75 (student price, whenever we DO have to pay) to watch it, but go expecting to see NYPD Blue: The Movie rather than Hard Boiled 2...

And for Gator.... I got two gold thingies and you got one! nyah nyah nyah nyah heheheheh

Oh and pictures are up on the site, we just need to add text for them.  Will be done hopefully this weekend.

Daikatana Demo released..
Well not like I give a rat's ass about it..but Daikatana's internet deathmatch demo was released today.  If you want to waste the bandwidth to dload the 36.6MB thing please feel free to send me mail to tell me what you think of it.  Hmm sounds like a job for Gator..hehe  Download it then burn it to CD.  Thanks Gator.. Download the demo from Actionxtreme - Freezer -[8:30pm EST]

A word of caution for the movies....
Two anticipated movies (by me and others in the clan) started today. The Corrupter with Chow Yun Fat of John Woo fame and Wing Commander. All I can say to you guys is that if you only see one movie this weekend I would recommend you make it The Corrupter. I just read 2 reviews on each movie. Here is the results:
The Corrupter: B -(Eonline review) & 3 1/2 stars. Wing Commander: F -(Eonline review) & 1 star. At Eonline they gave Wing Commander the F and said it might be the worst movie of the year.

I am not trying to start a controversy. I really wanted to see both these movies but after everything I have read about Wing Commander I don't know if I could spend $7 and feel good about it. I would really love to hear opinions of it from any of you guys brave enough to spend the money on it. I will be going to see The Corrupter on Saturday most likely. I cant miss my boy Chow Yun Fat in the theatres. - Jazzman-X-[2:35 pm EST]

One of the Champs of LB2 speaks...
I got several emails from you guys about the great time you had at LB2. I think Gator's summed up the excitement and coolness of the whole event as good as anybody. I think he intended this to be posted the way it is worded. If not I apologize to you Gator. Here it is in its entirety:
"Whoohoo !!!  what a BLAST2 that NeoReality and the Wrecking Crew hosted last saturday night!!!  I am still recovering from the lack of sleep and the non-stop fun that I had all day and night. Between moving and setting up all my stuff and fragging all day and night and then the tear down and cleanup and then the set up again at home I  am still exhausted...but if you said lets do it again this weekend I would be first in line !!! Although maybe I am biased since I won a few of the unique contests you , Zapman and Fraggod dreamed up. Who would of thought a non AQ player would win the sniper duel...against his wife....hehehe. The head over the bag game was interseting...especially since you and I took the prize in that one. And my alltime favorite was obviously the CTF tournament....whoohoo !!!  never had   a more intense game in my life as a Quaker...non-stop tension for the red team, but we pulled out the win. Well enough braggin' for now...never enough...Many thanks to Malebolgia and Cabman for being awesome CTF teammates...WE WON !!!...there I go again on that braggin' stuff...hehehe. And thanks to all who showed and were great sports thru the whole event...look forward to fraggin' with you all real soon. And most of all thanks to Jazz, Zap and Fraggod for all the work and thought and the prizes and the office space to have such a great time !!! Most of all I look forward to BLAST3 so I can defend my title and get another cool CTF gold medal !!!"

Server Changes
Ok just a few changes on the AQ2 server. The skins are now Blade vs. Sydney (ctf_b version). I also changed the Classic map to my old favorite Hostage2 (sorry Anti). Should be interesting to play this level now with the improved shotgun. I did the changes blind so to speak on the Sydney skin. So if it doesn't work someone email me. I am going to get in touch with Blake of 6e9 and try to set up a AQ2 match/scrimmage for one of the next 2 Tuesdays. I will let you know for sure soon. So everyone start practicing those AQ2 skillz!  - Jazzman-X-[2:35 pm EST]

Daily Jazz
Not much going on. I played some NFS3 last night again and AQ for like 15 minutes. On a real early LB3 side note...I think I already have a line on one of the prizes for the next one. Can anyone say game console??? That is all I am saying for now.

Also I got the emails from all of you. Sorry I have not answered a couple of you. I have been real busy catching up and should reply to all of you on your questions and thoughts real soon. Getting 30-40 emails a day sucks. :( - Jazzman-X-[1:05 pm EST]

Quake 3 Arena Screenshots
Here is a link to a page with the latest batch of Q3A screenshots. A couple of them are pretty damn cool. I like the one where the guy is facing off against two alien looking creatures. The lighting looks great. Here is the link: Q3A Pics   - Jazzman-X-[1:05 pm EST]

Jazzman gets behind the wheel...
I had to share this with all of you. As of late I only play 2 games on my computer. One is of course Quake 2. The other is Need for Speed 3. I swear...if you have a P2 233 or above and a good graphics card you owe it to yourself to get NFS3. The game is so sweet. I sat the other night racing for like an hour. I will admit I am a big racing game junkie. I bought a PSX just because of Gran Turismo and the Wipeout titles. I do think though that anyone with a Riva TNT or Voodoo type card would be very impressed with the game. A great title.  - Jazzman-X-[2:05 pm EST]

Q3A Pre-Alpha
I got a copy of the Q3A Alpha the other day. After about an hour I finally got it to work on my Voodoo 2 card. Looked pretty sweet. I have to say that it should be kickass once they get more done. I really like the feel of the weapons and the environments. The teleports are just kickass. To bad the bots on the Alpha are totally retarded.

I cant wait until the official demo version comes out here in a couple weeks. Maybe they will have at least a semi-decent bot on it.  - Jazzman-X-[2:05 pm EST]

Message from Toxoph
Well we only had like 4 people not show up for LB2 that were expected. One was Toxoph. As some of you know the reason he did not show up was because his wife had just had his son Daniel on the Wednesday before. He had a lot of things going on so he was unable to break away and come to Naples.

He wanted to tell everyone that he was sorry he did not make it and was really bummed he had to miss it. He said he will hopefully make LB3 when we have it. I saved a hat for him and he really liked it. Made him wish he had gone even more, hehe.

Anyway, if any of you see him start coming on the servers any time soon make sure to wish him a congrats on being a dad.   - Jazzman-X-[2:05 pm EST]

Daily Jazz...
I have received several emails from you guys and the general consensus is that everyone had a kickass time. Several people have said they were wore out (My back still hurts from carrying everything) but hey that's part of the fun of doing these events. Believe it or not I was talking with Gator and Zapman yesterday about some plans for the next one already. We wont REALLY start talking about it though for a month or so.

If any of you have any ideas or suggestions for LB3 send them into us now and when we have our meeting about setting it up we will discuss anything submitted. This includes contest ideas or anything else.  - Jazzman-X-[2:05 pm EST]

LB3 Intel...
Ok, I know that we just finished LB2 but....I wanted to go ahead and get a little info from some of you. We are looking at doing LB3 in June/July. You guys that are going to school etc. need to look at your schedules and let me know when the best time is for you. Try to give me 2 separate weekends in case one does not work out because of other peoples agendas. So basically give me a 2 week period that would work for you.

The guys I want to hear from on this are mainly you out of town members, (Antimatter, Jundice, Cyrix, Hirudin etc.). Skube and Shelivith, let us know what your schedule looks like also. This information will help us when we sit down in a couple weeks and decide on the date to hold LB3.  - Jazzman-X-[9:05 am EST]

March 8, 1999 - 4 Days Until WingCommander Movie. Mar 12th.

Daily Jazz...
I wanted to put out a couple special thanks to some LB2 attendees.

First to Cabman. Cabman donated 2 hubs to WC. This was a major cool gesture and we all thank you. He also kicked in more money and help than he needed to. Again a huge thanks to you from all of WC.

Next to Skube and Shelivith. I was really honored to meet you guys. You both were very nice and great players. You came a long way to our event and hope you both had a great time. Skube, thanks for the talk about clan stuff. Hope you get to feeling better. Look forward to talking to you soon. (Skube I am still investigating how FRaG GoD beat us, hehe)

Of course I have to thank FRaG God, Zapman, Freezer, @myth, Gator and Ripley for all helping me to organize everything. There is no way I could have done it alone. Thanks for everything.

Last of all I want to thank Immoral, Jundice and Masume for all of your help. Thanks for sticking around to help clean up, carry stuff etc. - Jazzman-X-[10:45 am EST]

Large explosion detected in Naples...
LAN BLAST 2 was in my opinion a huge success. Everyone seemed to have a great time and all went well. We had around 12-16 people there all day. We had 12 computers and none of them had many problems. No computers were thrown out windows so I guess that is a good sign.

We took a ton of pictures (I think) and FRaG GoD has them on his computer. Between the two of us we should have a page up soon with pictures and accounts of everything that happen. We had some close matches and other cool events. We will put all the details on the LB2 page when we get it done.

I want to thank everyone that came to LB2. Everyone was very mature and it made things much easier for the organizers. I hope everyone had a great time. If any of you would like to write a nice email to me or FRaG GoD please do so. We can use your letters as PR for the next event. You know the old "See what LB2 people had to say.." type thing. Anyway thanks again and I hope to see you all again at LB3 in June/July. (We will decide a date on LB3 in a couple weeks) - Jazzman-X-[10:25 am EST]

LB2, Y2K survival kit and other stuff
LB2 must have kicked ass, Jazz has not posted anything yet.  Either that or they or still playing.  Well anyway I'm not too happy about missing it.

In other news, many people are probably wondering about what will happen to this site when the dreaded world ending computer 'bug' Y2K hits.   I have provided here a simple little FAQ to help those with questions:

Q: What should I expect to happen to this site on midnight Dec 31st, 1999?

A: Microsoft will completely take control of my FrontPage program and insist on writing 2000 instead 1999 on all of my postings.  Keep an eye out for this atrocity on others postings as well.

A: Your Beta version of Netscape will no longer work and hence you can no longer see the site.

Q: What is the worst thing that could happen if my computer reads 2000 as 1900?

A: Your old expired shareware programs will miraculously start working again.

Q: WOW! Should I stock pile food and water and move to the country side with a my family?

A: If you are actually taking this seriously, then yes you should.  There will defiantly be death and destruction after midnight Dec31st when nothing happens.  Then people like you will start looking for common every day things to sue and blame Y2K on.

For more info on Y2K don't email me at - AntiMatter-2:05 am EST]

AQ2 models reminder
Just wanted to say once again that you should all get this file: Modelpak1. This will enable you to get vwep support for the new Blade skin we are running. It also gives you several other models and skins that are real popular right now. The download is only like 4mb. These skins/models will be used on our server and at LB2. So go ahead and get it if you have not already. - Jazzman-X-[3:05 pm EST]

LB2 still a go...
Everything is still on go. No problems have popped up....yet, hehe. I am glad Gary Coleman is not going. He would have just bitched all day about not getting the "Men In Black" part. Also OJ Simpson said he is not coming since Quake 2 does not have a knife as a weapon in it. He said to call him if we started playing Doom 2 because the chainsaw would be ok. - Jazzman-X-[3:00 pm EST]

FDIC making your bank spy on you
Interesting little thing I found.   The FDIC is creating a rule that would require all banks (that are insured by FDIC, which is all of them for practical purposes) to establish an in-depth knowledge of your financial business.  They would need to get more personal info about each of their customers, and they would be forced to monitor every single transaction you make.  They would then have to determine what your major sources of income are, how much money you would regularly get from those sources, and to report any variations of your normal transactions as "suspicious activities".  Imagine having each paycheck or purchase scrutinized as though you were a suspected criminal, and every time you got a birthday gift or bought a new TV you were investigated by the feds... Land of the Free I tell ya...

Anyway, you can go to this site to read more about it and fill out the online petition.  It sends their standard petition, along with any comments you want to add, to the FDIC's comment address, as well as your Representative and two state Senators.  The FDIC stops taking comments on March 8th, so if you want to participate in this effort you need to do so right away.

New Blade skin
Its pretty cool.  I played for a few minutes last night and they seem to look real cool.  I don't know if the Messiah model has a greater area to get shot in with the cape and all, but it didn't seem like they were getting killed more often so I guess it's all right.  The other skin is still incorrectly called 'chow2' so it shows up as a Reservoir Dog to people who haven't manually copied the files to that name, but hopefully we'll have a new skin for that team too and that will fix that.

Also, Gary Coleman has notified me that he won't be able to make it to LB2.  Apparently they're remaking The Wizard of Oz to be more politically correct, and he wants to be there when they audition the munchkins.  He wasn't bringing a computer anyway so it's not that big a deal.  We might have the talking sandwich from the Orange Juice commercials stop by though, so you won't want to miss out by doing something stupid like forget that its THIS WEEKEND.  So make sure you're there on SATURDAY MORNING...

WC in Action
Last night I played on the AQ2 server some with Freezer, Cyris and Jundice. We had a pretty good time. Cyris and Freezer were complaining about being off but we still were doing ok. I was having a decent night. I went on the CTF server earlier and played with 3 strangers for about 10 minutes. Did not see any other WC members around. One of the new CTF maps I kept getting lost on. I really need to walk around on them in single player some more.

The new Blade skin on the AQ2 server seemed to be real popular and looked very cool. May try to put another new one on there soon. - Jazzman-X-[10:00 am EST]

*AQ2 Skin update #2
Ok, last thing. I highly recommend you guys download this model pak that I have put a link to: Modelpak1. This will enable you to get vwep support for the new Blade skin we are running. It also gives you several other models and skins that are real popular right now. The download is only like 4mb so go ahead and pick it up. - Jazzman-X-[8:00 pm EST]

AQ2 Skin update...
Freezer helped me to get the server setup so that it will auto download models and skins to you when you connect to the server. So just connect and it will set you up. Simple as that. I did not do this for maps because that would just be too download intense and slow things down. Feedback welcome. - Jazzman-X-[5:00 pm EST]

*NEW AQ2 server skins!!!! (SEE ABOVE)
I decided to try and run a couple new skins on the AQ2 server. The first change is a skin for Blade (based on the movie character). You can get it here: NEW SKIN FOR JAZZ SERVER. Unzip into a folder under this: quake2/action/players/messiah. This is where the server is referencing them. If anyone sees a problem or notices something I did wrong let me know. This may be a quick experiment. I am hoping everyone is up to speed and knows where to get skins. Any of you that read this just use the link above. I am leaving the other as Chow2 for now until we see how one switch goes. If all goes smooth the other may change tomorrow.

Daily Jazz...
This weekend I got to see the flik "Ronin". Pretty cool movie. Had some of the best car chase scenes I have seen in a long time. Last great car chase scene I could remember was "To live and die in L.A.".

Also on the subject of movies Zapman and FRaG God came over and watched "The Big Lebowski". That movie is extremely funny. We were laughing our asses off the whole time. It has some all time classic lines in it ("I gotta go find a cash machine..." and "..This is a week da..what day is this?"). If you have not seen it yet check it out. - Jazzman-X-[10:40 am EST]

Server sweetness...
The servers have been running a lot better as of late. I have had reports from a few of you that you notice better performance since we upgraded the router last week. I myself did notice a difference. My ping seemed to be about 10-15 lower on average and even if it was not lower play still seemed smoother when the server was full.

The servers have also been much more stable as of late. The Action server stayed up all weekend without a single crash and the CTF server only crashed once. I am in server op heaven! I am considering bumping up the max players on each server from 12 to 14 and see how everything performs for a few days. Feedback is welcome if any of you have any ideas on this.  - Jazzman-X-[10:40 am EST]

LB2 preparations...
Yesterday a few of us (Jazz, Zapman, Frag God & Freezer) met at the LB2 site to start preparing for the event. Everything looks pretty good. Everything is still on go and so far we do not see any complications. We have a few small things left to check but almost all major issues and items are taken care of at this point.

By Thursday we should have almost all issues resolved and just be waiting for the day to come. We have a few very cool surprises set up and hopefully everyone who comes should have a great time. Everybody make sure you take a look at all the rules and instructions again.

A few other items to remember if you are bringing a computer is to bring a surge strip and your mouse pad. Also the chairs we have may not be the most comfortable on the planet (typical metal event chairs, some with cushions) so some of you may want to bring a pillow or something to pad your seat if you have a sensitive tushie (it will be a long day). If I think of any other items I will post them here or on the checklist page and remind you with a news update.  - Jazzman-X-[9:40 am EST]

AQ2 Classic map of the week...
This week the map is the old classic Museum. I have not played on this map in so long I forgot that it was pretty fun if you had enough people on it.  - Jazzman-X-[9:40 am EST]
