Holy cow!
Hey look I'm back up and running. I replaced the
navbar with a new one with the challenge link, The link doesn't work right now so don't
click there..hehe. Anyways, now I have to get used to all the changes that Jazzman
has made here over the last week or so. No problem, I'll just snoop around..heheh - Freezer 2:30am EST like Jazz's was a late
update..
Jazzman-X on Unreal...
I just got done playing Unreal for the last 3 or 4
hours and I decided to stop and just give you guys my quick observations on it so far. I
intend to write a article/review on it in the next few days also. I will make this quick
but I figured some of you thinking about buying might like a little info:
Test system I used: P166, 48mb, Monster 3D. (I will
test it on my other system on Monday- a P2 233, 64mb, Riva AGP 4mb)
Graphics: Awesome. The Monster 3D really brings it
out nice. Cool lighting, nice level layouts, etc. I would say if you don't have some kind
of 3D accelerator don't even think about buying this game.
Sound: The music seems ok nothing real special
although it does seem to pick up at key moments real nice. The sound effects are very
nicely done. Especially in the beginning with cool computer voice sounds, sparks etc. The
weapons sounds seem kinda weak but they are ok.
Multiplayer: Forget it. Totally sucks right now. I
tried hooking to 2 different servers and everyone was complaining and lagging. Remember
though Q2 was the same way at first.
AI: The best I have seen so far in this type game.
They roll, duck, run, go behind columns, everything. I am playing on easy so I'm sure they
get real tough on other diff. levels.
Comments: Well first of all if you do not have at
least what I tested this on (as stated above) don't even think about getting it. I had to
turn down several rendering features and turn off music and downgrade a few other things
to get it to run real good. Mind you, it ran with everything on just fine and looked
awesome but soon as I would get near a creature it would start getting choppy. So after
turning some things down I got it to run at a very good speed. Everything is smooth and
nice, I just had to lose some things like reflections, special lighting effects, etc. It
still looks just as good as Q2 even after I turned all these things down. It looks much
better I think with them on, just this system wont handle it.
I'll be very interested to see it on my other
system. It is much faster and it should run great. I will do a second opinion after I
do. - Jazzman-X -11:30pm EST
