Jazz change of plans...
I have a short change to below. I have a some personal affairs that may cause me to be offline for a few days. I will probably   be making little if any updates to site or servers for a few days. Please refer any site or server questions to Freezer or FRaG GoD. Thanks.

Daily Jazz...
Well back at work..blah. Anyway thanks to FRaG GoD for making a better LAN BLAST 1 button on the left and I also saw that either him or Freezer not sure who added some cool thought bubbles to the pics. He also added a little more to my descriptions.

Tonight I will also put up the page for the USR match results. We just kindof forgot since it was a loss. I will put up a page for it tonight. I will also put up whatever demos I have for those that want to check it out.

I plan on being on the AQ server tonight around 7pm or so for 1 hour and then the CTF server at 8pm for an hour. If anyone would like to come show up and play some please feel free. I plan on practicing my sniper tactics tonight on the AQ server and my defensive tactics on the CTF server. I may be on earlier on either server but I am going to try to be on each server for at least those 2 hours. Anyone who shows to play with me for those 2 hours will receive praise and mention on the site tomorrow. Not to mention I am going to try and take cools pics of whoever shows and I will post them on the site. - Jazzman-X -[10:16am EST]

Action Quake SKIN FIX
Ok if you all play on our Action Quake server you MUST have these files to do so, it seems as though someone (A-Team?) messed up in the skins department for the models we are running.  So download this file and unzip it into your Quake2\action\players\actionmale folder and join the fun.  If you don't have the ActionMale folder then you need to get the new client files from the Action Quake homepage.  - Freezer 11:56pm EST

LAN BLAST 1 pics!!!
I went and got the pictures back today finally. I put up a real quick and dirty page with some pictures. There are actually many more pictures but this was all I had the time for. We will post the rest later and I am sure FRaG GoD may clean it up a little, feel free. (F.G.: There are a few more pics where the ones I used are that I just did not put on the page) Everyone had a great time and I cannot wait until we have LAN BLAST 2. The link is over there to the left under the WC Demos button (F.G. - Feel free to make a better button too if you want I was in a hurry)

Jazzman-X is Back!
I just got back in town from my camping trip. I just sent an email to all members regarding the last few days.....events. I also brought the AQ server back up that was down. I will be watching football today most of the time but I plan to be on playing AQ or CTF later to make up for the 4 days without it. I will probably be on playing around 5pm EST for any of you that want to show up and play some.  - Jazzman-X 10:30am EST

First comment on 1st update to complex Solution
I thought up the idea a long time ago to have a cookie keep track of what the last news item each person had read in the "secret members area" so that you would know when to check it for new stuff.   And after using 6e9's message board and the AQ2 message board, I started wanting to add something like that to our site.  The so called "Humble Solution" would appear to take care of both of these things, as well as set up a planetwide surveillance system and national defense computer, which would monitor locations and online status of clan members, as well as heart rate, blood glucose/alcohol level, and checking account balances.  In the event that a majority of clan members are not making efforts to show up to a scheduled match, all members funds will be immediately transferred to offshore accounts and advanced nuclear warheads will be launched from submarines in the Atlantic and aimed at the members' current locations.  Dancing Intel workers in radiation suits will be flown in via catapult to finish off any surviving rebel clansmen.

On a less demented note, I think the planned automation is cool and very worth doing.  It is a currently a pain in the arse to move the news to the archives and so it happens less often than it needs it.  The news page would become more useful since all clan members would be able to add stuff, but a built in spell checker/universal translator would be needed for us to understand some members' postings... (heheh)   The listing of upcoming matches would be most useful, because with a lot of news updates it is easy to miss the one update from several days before that mentions when the match/practice will be, as happened with (at least) me in the last one.

As for the match roster planning scripts, I think it might be useful to have something automated that fills in our team roster, but I don't think we need the web server talking to other clans and canceling matches for us... heheh

New Pic in CWFILES
I posted a new pic in the CwFiles pages, the pic was built using QSB (Quake Scene Builder) and Photoshop 5 to do the text.  I got bored, so I played with the stupid program.   Its sorta like 3d Studio, but for dumb people.. Enjoy the pic. -Freezer 3:46am EST

First Update To My Humble Solution
Thanks for the emails so far, guys. Looks like we have some cookie dissenters amongst our ranks, so we'll go ahead and make cookie use optional on the new system. You'll have to login with your alias (from a pulldown menu) & password; those of us who choose to enable the persistent cookie option will only have to login once, and the cookie will store the login info which the system will pick up on future visits. Um, I'm *thinking* of altering the news setup a bit too.... instead of this static HTML file, you would fill out a form to add news updates (after logging in). Benefits would include automated archiving, new ways to search the news, and, of course, anyone in WC could post news (a damn scary thought... hehe). The author could mark the news posts as 'sensitive' or not, and then visitors (ie. non logged in people) would see general news, while WC members would see it all. Um, feedback please... is this worth doing? - ZapMan 2:44am EST

My Humble Solution To Recent Happenings.....
After reading the last few posts/emails, I am currently working on a new improved database for the crew site. It will be a widely expanded version of the member database. In addition to storing what it does now, it will keep track of how often you visit this page (via cookie) and automatically drop members who do not visit at least once every 6 weeks (or whatever Jazz / Freezer decide... we discussed this idea at Lan Blast 1 and I think it's time to do it). It will also keep track of ALL upcoming matches, scrimages, and practices, and when you come to this page you will be prompted with the match details and "Are you coming? YES / NO" A list of upcoming matches and who is definitely coming will be posted at all times somewhere on this site. A cut off point and minimum number of players will be established per match, and if an insufficient number of players sign up by the cut off point, the system will automatically cancel the match/practice by way of email to all parties involved (including the opposing clan). Details will follow when I have completed the project. Give me a couple days. Here's a spec of what it will keep track of (sorry, just raw SQL from my notes right now). I'm planning support for level rosters (that automatically change to alternates based on who's coming), strategy notes per match, full contact info for opposing clans, time zone correction for what time YOU see each match starts, and URL's that can be attached to any member, match, level roster, or opposing clan so we can put up sophisticated notes if necessary. Email ideas. I may have support for online discussions about upcoming matches, so everyone can get involved, but it may become too much of a bitch to program that, so we'll see.  - ZapMan 6:30pm EST

Freezer's Temper Ok you point is taken BUT..
It is obvious that you read this page and it would be simple to say that you  have read this page within the last few days and have seen on the 23rd I posted the news of the scrimmage against Rubicon, therefore, you could have should have sent email, told someone or what have you that YOU were not going to be there CORRECT??  As for the other night on the AQ server, that guy was disrespecting  the server by playing those sorry ass taunts OVER AND OVER AND OVER after he was told not to..WHY shouldn't I have threatened to kick his ass off the server??   The incident between you and me was in response to that guy and you making a comment about how I was playing..WELL I WAS LAGGED and I told you that if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen..you did so why bother sulking about it?  This is what I mean about this shit isn't fun anymore and that we have to baby sit all the time.   If you don't like something I say expect a reply like you get from me..I don't like whiners, I don't like people who constantly disrespect me or any of the things I do, or disrespect others on our servers..THAT is why I threatened that guy with a kick.  And NO, no one says hey lets go to Jazzman-X's server to see if we can get kicked, same on the CTF server..they get kicked for being stupid..nothing else..I'd kick anyone in this clan if they got all stupid in the server and I'm sure Jazz, and Tox would do the same..  I can understand people having something to do, but given the time frame you were presented with on the scrimmage you could have said "hey I ain't gonna be there"  I received a few emails today one from Skream explaining his situation, I understand what he was saying, hell he even emailed me from his cousins house to say he hasn't been able to do anything lately, that's the kind of respect me, Gator, and Jazz deserve when we send email or post news here about clan functions, not you just blowing us off saying oh they'll get over it..we don't, we get bent out of shape about things like that, for the reason of the time we invest to do things for you.  Jazz invests more time than anyone else, he maintains the servers for your enjoyment, should you disrespect him by not responding to him when he asks for feedback on those servers?  No you shouldn't, we don't pay anything to have those servers running, hell Loren could tell Jazz at any time to shut them off FOR GOOD, luckily he's a nice guy and allows us a free connection to Interlines T1's.  Treat this as a lesson in respect of what we do.  Most other clans don't have half the leadership our clan does, and they don't have half as nice a web page, and they don't have server's, they don't throw parties or don't have shit in general.  You all get my point?  This thread is FINISHED HERE. - Freezer 3:07am EST

Freezer's Temper
Geez! I don't know about you Freezer, but some people have JOBS.  And with the Christmas season around the corner, we are all working really hard, especially the ones in retail (me).  Don't go bashing us like that, I know people like Hirudin, Canadian and others would play if they could.   About the email thing, well I just received the email today.  I don't sit at this radiation box all day.

And another thing. Lets talk about your attitude and temper in the games and now in the posts.  The other night playing AQ with you, I left because of you. Yeah that's right, having a friendly scrimmage and trading jokes with the other guys on line, you just blow up, and threaten to kick every last person on the server.  Oh yeah that's gonna make our server popular. "Hey bob, lets go play on the Demo server, so Freezer can kick us when we kill him." So just simmer down and laugh!

I don't wanna turn this into a bash session, but I just felt you should not have gone off on the members like that, we are all good people. If you can't handle us having lives outside of Quake, then maybe you should kick us all outta the clan. Loosen up and go watch Frag God's demo of the 6e9 match. heheh.  - AntiMatter 2:43am EST / 12:43am MDT

Clan Rubicon Scrimmage..
Ok kiddies here is the deal YOU MAY WANT TO SKIP THIS UPDATE IF OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE OFFENDS YOU.  I am not going to be nice with this one..

I wanna thank Clan Rubicon for showing up for our clan practice/scrimmage.  I also wanna thank Biff*IWG*, Skube*IWG*, and another IWG guy/gal for showing up as well.   Another thanks goes out to
VOODOO who made his return to CTF and QUAKE 2 in general for the first time in FOUR MONTHS, and thanks to GATOR for setting this all up and spending his time and effort on this.  Jazzman-X thanks for updating the server and informing us you may not be there.  Canadian thanks for TRYING to get on I see you had connection probs.  ANYONE CAUGHT ON YET??

Now lets see, lets just do some math here.   Gator + Freezer + VooDoo = 3  hmm THREE PEOPLE!! You catch on yet??  Well for those of you a little slow here is the deal.  I DON"T FUCKING CARE ANYMORE WHAT YOU PEOPLE FUCKING DO!!  Gator spent his time setting this up Jazz spent his time upgrading the server.  I spent my time telling you about the practice scrimmage here and Gator sent EMAIL to EVERYONE today telling you about the scrimmage and what time it was and where it was.  Well as of this moment I will no longer waste my time on ignorant fools who don't give a fuck about the time we spend doing shit for you.  Everyone was complaining about us not doing anything well FUCK YOU who ever complains now.  I'm sick of baby sitting people.  If you couldn't have made it tonight then you should have emailed Gator and said so.  Yeah that's right, what did Jazz say a few days ago, you get an email from Me, Jazz, or Gator you better either reply and say your coming or say you are not.  I don't care what you all were doing, I don't care if you were starving your selves so you could stuff your fat asses with food today.  SHOW SOME CONSIDERATION and REPLY TO EMAILS.  Don't reply to me anymore because I could care less.   I'm through with wasting my time.  Anyone got a problem with me  or this post?, email me..   I'd love to waste some of your time. - Freezer 1:55am EST

Quotes of the day
In case you guys have not noticed we have been changing the quote of the day from time to time. I just put a new one up. If you have not seen it already then check it out. The full review can be read by clicking the Mr. Cranky link below it.  - Jazzman-X 3:35pm EST

CTF Lithium server update
I updated the CTF server to Lithium 1.23. Seemed to go smooth. Everyone let me know if you see anything wrong. This version basically fixed a few little bugs and made the Lithium mod even more stable than it already was. I will give it to Lithium, that shit hardly ever crashes compared to AQ that seems to crash if you fart too loud.  - Jazzman-X 3:35pm EST

CTF Scrimmage/Practice tonight
After I sent that last email to all of you I got an email from Freezer saying it was at 11pm tonight. Everyone try to be there. Again I am not sure if I will make it or not but I am going to try.  - Jazzman-X 3:35pm EST

FRaG GoD's Demo...
After watching the new demo about 8 times I have to award FRaG GoD with our first ever "WC Oscar for best Violent Short Film". Hehe. I thought it was awesome. I really love how he ended it with the great timing on the music/kick. Too damn cool. Makes me want to go dive in and try to learn that ball-buster Keygrip2 again. Everyone make sure you check it out and let FRaG GoD get some good feedback from you so he will do more.  - Jazzman-X 3:25pm EST

AQ Team demo #1 done
Well I fought with KeyGrip for another day and got it to basically do what I wanted.  There was two little effects that I just could not get to work right, but I think it's pretty good for a first demo.  It took about two days to learn enough about KeyGrip to make this.  It's pretty short, I just took a round out of our match with 6e9 and jazzed it up a little bit.  Check it out here: wcdemo1.zip

If you've installed the apbase map or the hostage demo, it will ask you if you want to overwrite one or two of the wav files.  The files in this zip are the same exact ones so it does NOT matter whether you overwrite them or not.  Give me some feedback about what you think of it or any ideas for new demos.

Action Quake Teamplay match results Pt 2.
Yee haw..we at least did better than the last clan that faced them.  I think Jazz's email about how he believed they would play was almost accurate.  The first round of the match they bum rushed us in the coral on ActCity2, after that they caught on fast to our tactic of sitting back and playing defense, which didn't work all that well but it was as effective as any tactic would have been against these guys.  These guys were DEADLY accurate, for every one guy you hit you got hit like five times from three others.  Quite tough to kill anyone with that kind of accuracy going on.

Over all I think Clan USR was the most sportsmanlike clan we have seen to date, and I'm sure I'm not alone when I say Good Luck the rest of the way guys.  -

Action Quake Teamplay match results...
Well we lost. But...we played as well as could be expected. The clan we played was USR. They are a very good clan. They have been beating other clans by scores of 24-2, 22-1 etc. We lost 13-5 on Actcity2 and 10-6 on Teamjungle. We were within 1 round of them for almost all of Teamjungle until the last 4 or 5 minutes. We nearly pulled the second round out.

Not to make excuses but I had a very bad night as those there I am sure can tell you. Also I saw that Violent Marv was having some bad connection problems that hurt us some too. On the up side Freezer had a very good night this week compared to last week. He pulled out at least 2 rounds on actctiy2 by himself.

Nobody should be upset about the match though. We played a good and tough match against an extremely good clan and I think given a shot at them again after we all practice more together we could do much better. We were a little unorganized from time to time although as those that were there I am sure could see the small tactic we agreed on before the match did have some success. We just were not all on the same page sometimes. Oh well again good job by all. Hell, we made it to the final 10 clans out of 50. I plan on us practicing some more and maybe a month or two from now we will ask USR for a friendly scrimmage rematch. - Jazzman-X 10:15pm EST

Reminder AQ MATCH TONIGHT!!!
Freezer, Toxoph, Violent Marv, FRaG GoD all will be there with me tonight. Since Antimatter is working that means we will have one open spot for a spectator...so if anyone wants to come in and hang out to watch go ahead. I know Jundice was there last time so if you want to come again feel free. We can only have 6 people on the server from our clan though so if we get more someone may be asked to leave. Please do not take it personal. It is part of the match that we do it this way. - Jazzman-X 10:25am EST

Jazzman on CLQ...
I have had like 4 or 5 different people ask me lately how I am good on the match demos and when they play with me but my CLQ ranking is not very good. This is pretty simple..CLQ is not an 100% accurate scale of a players skill. CLQ is really geared towards the player who plays a lot of hours during the week and also plays in a fast, quick kill, bum rushing style.

If you look at my rankings for the last several weeks you will see that I usually never get to play more than around 200 minutes in a week. Well CLQ I think takes your best 120 minutes to figure your rank (it also deletes your best 20 minutes, which would be like 10% of my overall play time!). So I don't have that many total minutes to choose from since I don't play a lot. Someone who plays 2000 minutes will always have a better ranking than me even if I am 100 times better just because they have more minutes to choose from in getting their BEST 120 minutes. Just thought I would point that out. So any of you that have been depressed about why your rank is not higher I hope this explains it too.

I think CLQ is a great thing its just not the end all skill ranker. - Jazzman-X 10:05am EST

AQ Server changes
I changed the skins on the AQ server. It had been the Killers vs. Cops combo for probably way too long. Plus many complained that the killers had an advantage because the skin was darker and blended better than the cops one. So...I picked the 2 brightest and distinguishable skins in the original set that came with AQ. I have it set as  "cyrus" (orange cyrus jail outfit from Con-Air) vs. "nut" (the all white mental patient outfit with red blood spots). This way nobody should be able to say one is more visible than the other...I hope. Plus these will work good for the match tonight. - Jazzman-X 10:05am EST

CTF Scrimmage (tentative)
I got word in from Gator today of a possible clan scrimmage this week against Clan Rubicon.  The match would be the 25th at 11:00pm EST on our server.  We will forward more information as it is available.  At the moment just plan on a practice scrimmage against Rubicon on Wednesday.  - Freezer 5:02pm EST

Jazz Notes...
Ahhh see I told you it should be called BallGrip. Good luck to FRaG GoD on redoing the demos. I think they will be kickass cool when he gets done with them.

I will be sending out a rather lengthy email here after this update to all clan members regarding the AQ match. Please go check your mail for it. Our match is tomorrow night at 9pm EST. I will post more later today as needed.

KeyGrip bites... demos delayed
After messing with KeyGrip2 on 6e9_1.dm2 from our last match, I figured out how to cut out a single round, recam it with cool camera angles, and add sound files to it.  Unfortunately, it became more and more unstable so that when I viewed the final product, all the skins were wrong, all the guns and knives on the ground were white boxes, and the guy saying "Action" was being played whenever the MP5 was fired.  I eventually discovered after many hours of work, that all that important information is stored at the beginning of the demo, and if you cut a piece out of the middle of a demo, all that stuff is lost unless you save it first in the special keygrip format.  I would have thought that something this major would be more prominently displayed in the help files or say, when you started cutting off the beginning of the demo.... AAAAAHHHHHHHH

So anyway it will be several more days before I put any cool demo edits up here.  Gots stuff to do.

Planet Ho Slap
I just saw this site and I have to say I laughed my ass off when I saw it. I think the banner below explains quite a bit. Go check it out (click banner). I love their terminology list. Make sure you read read the "Ask Love Bunny" section too. That shit is too funny.

Jazzman-X's first impressions of Half-Life
It rocks! Very awesome game. So far I have to really say it is the best first person shooter I have ever played. I have played SIN, Blood2 and Shogo and they all suck compared to HL in my opinion. It only has a few little quirky things but I am sure these will be worked out very quickly. The bad news is it is not very low-end system friendly. On my 400 it of course runs like a dream. On my p 166 w/ Monster 3d I can hear the system screaming and crying the whole time. I had to lower the resolution and screen size to make it playable. It is playable on it just not highly enjoyable. I think to really enjoy this game you probably have to have a 233 or higher. Unless you have more ram or a better card in your system than I do in my 166 (48 megs, Monster 3d 4meg version).

I have really seen 2 things so far that need fixing. First Multiplayer needs a little more tweaking. It plays fine now (I played last night for like 2 hours) but it needs to be optimized a little more. The speed of online play falls somewhere between Unreal and Quake2. A little tweaking I think could have it to Q2 levels no problem. The other small thing that I have been having problems with is getting a LAN game running. I didn't spend much time on it but it definitely is going to fight me to get it working when all other games usually work over LAN no problem.

I will write up a more detailed review soon for those of you interested.  - Jazzman-X 9:55am EST

FRaG GoD is cool..ehh heh huh
I am glad he learned some of Keygrip2. I refer to it as ballgrip. I messed with it for like 20 minutes the other day and it aggravated the hell out of me. It is a real ball buster. Anyway...now he just needs to learn how to add some funky tunes to the demo to make them even more enjoyable. And while your at it.....add cool recamming, special effects, replace all person sounds, make weather effects, have gu......  - Jazzman-X 9:55am EST

new AQ client download
Here is the NEWEST new AQ client upgrade.   There is a very weird maze of links to upgrades and fixes and updated fixes and all that on the AQ site, but this file here is all you need no matter what you've downloaded already.  It includes VWEP support for AQ (woo hoo!).  None of the Telefragged mirrors had it yet when I tried to download it (came out around 8:00pm last night) so you all get a special link just for you.

According to MapDepot, we will all have to redownload the mappacks again in a few days.  They have the new ones available right now in a temp directory, but I'm going to wait a few more days before I get em because there's always last minute updates and stuff.

keygrip learned... 6e9 demos updated
I prodded KeyGrip2 for an hour or two and convinced it to let me edit and splice the demos of the 6e9 AQ match.  I cut out the stupid chatter on two of the demos and merged the levels that had multiple demos, so now there is a new zip file, with one demo for each level.  There's not so much new stuff that you need to watch them all again if you've already seen the old ones, but if you want to have the entire match for your archives or want to see Jazzman's awesome Rambo round at the beginning of the first level, the link is updated on the 6e9 match results page.

Also, and more importantly, we need to make sure that at least one person who is not playing during a round in our next match is recording a demo of it.  I think that I should be able to learn enough about Keygrip in the next week to merge multiple people's demos together into one cool one.  - FRaG GoD 12:40am EST

Half-Life is out!!
I got a call from EB today saying they got HL in. I will be going tonight to pick it up. I will let you guys know how it plays etc on here very soon. I will run on both my p2 400 and my p 166 (with monster 3d) and let you guys know performance wise how it does.  - Jazzman-X 4:55pm EST

AQ match vs. USR info...
I got a reply form USR. The match is set for Tuesday, November 25 at 9pm EST. Our map choice is Actcity2 and they picked Teamjungle. Cliff is the tiebreaker if needed. Same maps as last match. I will be sending out an email to all AQ players with more detail, rosters etc. - Jazzman-X 4:55pm EST

Last night
Ok.....hmmmm....well. WHAT HAPPEN!! Hehe. Last night we were supposed to have CTF practice. Here were the present WC members: Jazzman-X, Toxoph, and FRaG GoD. Where was everyone!! Well to answer my own question I later realized that IWG showed up with like 6 guys and there were like 3 wanderers on the server. I forgot to increase it from 12 players so I am sure some of you were trying to show up but couldn't get in. However.....The server had plenty of room till at least 945pm until it got full. Meaning many of you probably did not show or were much later than 9pm.

Well no problem. We just expect a much better turn out next Wednesday night. I will have the server up to 16 and may password protect it if IWG is planning on showing up. The problem last night was the 3 of us (who typically play the least CTF in the clan) had to play with some real loser suck ass guys and IWG had a full squad. This basically made it ugly. I think they beat us one round like 8-1 or something. I had the flag several times but had to hold it for like 10-20 minutes and nobody would get ours back before I was finally hunted down. Oh well...it was still fun...kinda, hehe. I just wish we had a full team of WC members. - Jazzman-X 4:53pm EST

CTF match practices...
I got an email from Skube of IWG last night. I have not had a chance to reply yet but it looks like they want to try and have 2 practice/scrimmages a month with us. I need to discuss this with all of you still but it looks as if for sure we will be having at the very least one a month and maybe two. - Jazzman-X 10:23am EST

AQ Server changes...
I added 2 new maps to the rotation on the AQ server (207.30.96.80). I added the apbase map (Austin Powers) and the brand new urban2 map. You can get both of these maps at MapDepot as usual. I also took the classic map hostage2 out of rotation. This was an old favorite of mine but I guess the "New Generation" of AQ players don't like it. I remember back in the old days when we only had 2 ma......... I also changed the MOTD on the server to reflect these changes. - Jazzman-X 10:23am EST

Good News, Stunning lights, and Kewl thing
This just made my day, Sun Microsystems has won their anti-competitive lawsuit against Microsux today.  The courts has ordered Microsluts to either change any and all programs (i.e Windows, I.Ex, JDK) to comply with Sun's Java compatibility test, or to drop Java all together from their software.  Microsoft responded saying that they would now consider using an Hewlett-Packard derivative called "Chai". haha Yeah like that's gonna work.   Since this victory showed that Microsoft did indeed use anti-competitive practices, it means good news for the upcoming Government Anti-Trust case.  Go get em!

Starting this morning around 12:30 est the most amazing Meteor shower started, I was able to observer quite a few "fireballs" streak from one end of the sky, over my house, and to the other end.  Quite a sight!   Most of you on the east coast might have had a hard time seeing them, but I'm sure Cheasy, and Hirudin had a great view like me.

In other new, I have finally started my own WC member homepage. If anyone else has a page, tell me, I'll put it up in the links section.

After getting back from the fireworks show, I saw freezer online, he commented that he has "officially retired" from quake.. He just had a bad day.  So go easy on him if you see him, stand still and then claim lag got ya.  :)

Holy Crap!! That is the last time I let the CTF server stats build up so much. It took me like 30 min from start to finish to get those stats up. There is like 300 people listed on it. The page itself is like 190k (the log file was like 1.4 meg!!) I think. Crazy stats. Enjoy. Gator got the top spot once again and we had many more members listed on the list overall than last time. I came in smoking at 78th!! Actually that's not bad out of 300 and only playing 50min. Nice job by all of you in the top 10.

AQ Match...Jazz Notes...
Ok I am still communicating with USR in getting our next AQ Teamplay match set up. As of right now we have decided on Tuesday, November 24th 9pm EST. That's one week from tomorrow. That is fairly solid. I am waiting for one more confirmation back from him on location and maps and I will update everyone as soon as I receive that.

So that means CTF practice is a go for this Wednesday night. So try to be there as close to 9pm EST as you can. This weeks practice will probably be just a general freestyle practice. When playing if others start coming in all WC guys try to shift to same team. That way we can practice working together. A few of us were on earlier tonight and were having a very good time playing CTF. Also I will try to put up the latest Stats for the Fragboard tomorrow if I am able to.

One other note on the action server...tonight I first hand witnessed and confirmed one of the things that cause a server to crash. I had heard of it before but was not sure if it was true. If 2 or more guys are stuck together do not shoot them with M4 or Sniper rifle. This causes the "No Free Edicts" crash. I do not know why it is with these 2 weapons but it does do it. So from now on if you see guys stuck tell everyone on server not to shoot them and if you have to kill them use pistol instead. I have confirmed this is true. Try to educate everyone that you see that are regulars to keep people from doing this.

LAN Blast 1
Yup Lan Blast was cool.  I figured out as we were driving home at 1:30 that it lasted a ridiculous 11 hours.  We got some good gaming time in there, playing q2ctf1-4 and about 6 rounds of AQ DM and 1 or 2 maps of teamplay.  We also watched some Austin Powers on DVD (inspired by playing on the new apbase map based on the movie).  I also finally got to see this "ZBot" thing that everyone has been complaining about... and I can see what everyone's so upset.  Our whole CTF team stood around and watched the opponents' screens as Freezer's ZBot stood in the corner and faced the wall and still railed the enemies as they entered the room.  Quite amusing!

I believe we set a record for taking only 2 hours to connect 6 totally different computers with two hubs, one of which we weren't sure even worked.  Freezer's computer also celebrated a personal victory of making it through the Lan party in one piece.  We'll be putting up some screen shots, demos, and photographs of the event in a few days once we get the pictures developed and scanned.

Also, new WinZip version out for anyone who hasn't gotten it already.

LAN Blast
Like what was stated below..LAN Blast KICKED ASS..after we got it all up and running that is.  The next one will most likely happen in January so get ready for that.  This next one we'll know EXACTLY how we need to hook up and just plug stuff in and go and frag the dog crap out of each other.   Yes it was fun as hell, it seemed as though mine and FRaG GoD's computers didn't like each other when we played AQ2 DM.  Every time he'd get near me or I'd get near him we lagged a bit.  LAG?  On a NETWORK?  Yeah lag  our pings went from 50-70 to 150 and my sound got all studdery and stuff it could have just been the fact that the map was bringing us down when we;d see each other or the simple fact that we probably had the slowest machines in the room. (We all can't be like Zapman,Jazz, Gator, and Ripley)  Me and FRaG GoD think it was a conspiracy brought on by the man against Socket 7 users.  Any way this was a fun thing  we hope the next one we can get a few of you non-Floridians to join in or at least the ones who can jump on a plane and swing yer asses over here..hehe - Freezer 1:28am EST

Updates and other stuff
I updated our records on the Clan Central website tonight.  I removed what I feel was deadweight in the clan (If I removed you and you feel this was an error email me and let me know) We will be going through the roster here and doing the same.  Like Jazz stated below this week we are starting up a weekly CTF practice schedule on Wednesday nights from 9:00 PM until 12:00 AM.   No you do not have to show up at 9:00pm and stay until 12:00am but you might want to show up for at least an hour to get some practice in..It was kinda evident at our LAN Blast who had played CTF in awhile and who hadn't..hehe.  So be there or be square. - Freezer 1:21am EST

CTF Practices!!!
We also came to a set time for our CTF practices to start taking place. We are going to have CTF practice every Wednesday night from 9pm-1200am EST. Basically we would like everyone to try their best to show up from at least 9pm-10pm if possible. We make it to midnight in case your running late and then you can come in and get some practice with those left. We will be starting this next Wednesday. Everyone please try to be there. The only thing that could conflict with this would be our AQ match which is not scheduled as of this minute. I will update everyone here when I do get that date.

We are also trying to get a set monthly date to have practice/scrimmage matches with a friendly clan like IWG. We are looking at like the first Wednesday of every month or something similar. This way both clans can just keep in shape practicing against some other than themselves. We will give you more info when and if this is finalized. We may also set up AQ practice for those of you wondering but that will not be until after the CS tournament is over. - Jazzman-X 11:53am EST

LAN BLAST 1...KICKASS!!
Yesterday we had our first LAN Blast get together. It was a great success I think. I am sure everyone there had a good time. We had it in Naples, FL. We had a pretty good turn out of clan members: Jazzman-X, FRaG GoD, Zapman, Gator, Ripley, Freezer and @Myth were all there. We took a bunch of pictures and will put up a page with them and some info about what went on.

We briefly talked about when LAN Blast 2 would be. We will probably be looking around mid to late January for the next one. So all you out of state WC members start making those flight reservations now, hehe. Seriously for guys like Antimatter and Jundice if you see that you may be down here around that time or so let us know and maybe we can schedule something to coincide. - Jazzman-X 11:43am EST

Jazz Notes...LAN Blast 1 *-testing invisible text trick people are using lately *
First of all...HELLO GATOR AND FREEZER!!!! Neither of you guys sent me directions. I will try to get up halfway early but please call or send directions ASAP. LAN Blast 1 is a go as of right now. We will have 6 WC members attending. Maybe someday we can have 100% clan participation. C'mon all you guys want to come to Florida for a week right?

To you new guys like Marv take note that you should visit our site everyday if possible. We update it regularly and always have something cool, funny or informative. Well, almost always.

I am planning to talk to everyone at the LAN Blast and we are going to get going on a members section with info regarding matches, tactics etc for CTF and AQ. So just keep checking that email and visiting your favorite site.....this site dammit!!!

Demos section open...
I have a very basic demos page up now. You can click on the button to the left to get there. Only one demo file there as of now. I am also planning on archiving pics there too. So we still need to copy the potw links to the page. So all you aspiring camera men get to snapping those screenshots and making those demos! - Jazzman-X 1:47pm EST

No more changes!
OK I started a bad trend by announcing site fixes as news.  We don't have to tell everyone when we fix little stuff, just go ahead and fix it.  As for the navbar on each page, it served several purposes.   First, I planned on returning a better version of the Flash menu in the top frame after I learned enough about it to do something cool.  I took the old one down because I rearranged all the files on the site and none of the links on the Flash menu worked and it was a pain to figure out how to update them.  Secondly, for browsers without frames support (not a whole lot) and search engines to index the site, they follow links on the pages.  Also when people search for Quake or Clan stuff on the search engines it doesn't give them the page inside the frames, so they have no way of navigating without manually reentering the URL for the main index page.

I don't care which navbar graphic to use.  I think the new one is harder to read but it looks nicer so it's up to you. - FRaG GoD 12:45pm EST

Change to site...
Since we got away from the original flash nav I didn't see the point in having 2 nav menus. I made up a real quick one to go on top that use's same font as intro graphic. I have only removed alternate menu from main and news page as of now. FRaG God..please take a look and see what you think. If ok then please remove remaining ones. If you have a better idea go ahead. - Jazzman-X 11:17am EST

One more damn fix..
Us webmaster types must be smoking crack today (umm yesterday) we have been fixing this page all damn day.  The last fix (hopefully) comes to the USR link above, before if you put your cursor on it it said Clan 6e9 web site..I fixed it so it says USR web site..Geez..Oh if you haven't noticed today is Friday the 13th, be on the lookout for some big, dumb, antisocial bastard with a hockey mask on..hehe - Freezer 12:10am EST

Jazz gets into the fix craze...
I figured out the little problem above FRaG GoD with the USR thing. I also added a button to the left there for a new section we plan to add. Any demos that you as clan members make of you or even better other WC members in action should be submitted to list in here. We will start off with the ones from the match for now but I am sure the collection will grow. Make sure you send an email to either Freezer, FRaG God or myself before you send demo. Do not just send it! Email us first and tell us you have one, what it is of, and how big it is. Then we will tell you where to send it.

I do not have a page up yet for the demos section but I will by tomorrow. For now make sure you check out the match results and get your fresh demos there.-Jazzman-X 11:27pm EST

One more fix to the site..
Ahh it seems as though FRaG GoD has a little retinal problem with his eye..he mistakenly left the last match vs the DINGO PACK up top..I fixed it to say 6e9..you're welcome FRaG..and yes I am right DIET DR. PEPPER does taste like DIET DR. PEPPER..another clue as to your retinal problem..hehe -Freezer 6:17pm EST

Few fixes to site
I made a few small errors while updating the site early this morning. For some reason I forgot to add a match icon next to Jundice's name for being at the match.  Also I put the wrong link to Clan USR's web site.  Their domain is down anyway so even if I had put it up correctly, it wouldn't have worked.  It now correctly links directly to their computer on their ISP so it should be fine for the next week or two.

Yeah those demos were pretty cool.  Me and Jazz and Toxoph watched 2 of them on Tox's work computer today.  After watching them again we noticed that I managed to catch a couple of splatacular moments where he and Antimatter go bum rushing and strategically block bullets with their heads.  :)  Way to take the charge guys!  As for the Dr. Pepper issue, don't argue with me.  I'M NEVER WRONG!!

They just keep on a coming...These 2 lads tried to get in 8 times each (persistent little jerks). Here they are for your punkass cheaters book entry:

CTF stuff...next AQ match
Right now I think Gator and Freezer are working on setting up a CTF scrimmage with someone. We are also going to look at setting up some kind of a practice schedule coming up soon. If any of you receive emails from me, Gator, or Freezer that has "Reply Requested" in the subject PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reply back to that message. This is basically only going to be used on important messages that require ALL members to respond.

Our next AQ match is against the USR clan (United States Rangers not US Robotics, hehe). They appear to be a very skilled, large and organized clan. Be ready. More info to come soon..... - Jazzman-X 4:55pm EST

Round 2 comments from Jazz...
First thing is WOOO HOOO. Great match by all. I felt we really played a solid match. I think a few guys felt they were playing bad or had a off night..but I think everyone played very well. I had a great night and was right on the spot on the first and last map. That teamjungle map I think I might have fell asleep on, hehe.  (match results page)

I want to make some comments about everyone's play:

Antimatter: Excellent play. You had a few rounds there on Actcity that you really came through. On that one demo you guys can all see one time where Antimatter whacks 2 guys right on the steps real nice. Also on cliff he had some great rounds.

Violent Marv: You played great Marv. You were the only guy playing consistent on our team on Teamjungle and you came through with a clutch win by yourself there at the end to make it 8-7 and give us the chance to tie. Watch the demo guys to see what I mean. He also had some great moments on cliff. I know you made a comment once that it was stressful, hehe. Just relax man, you did great.

Toxoph:Played great also. He was on and off here and there but he came through with some great kills on teamjungle and cliff. He was a little off in actcity but I guess that was just first map jitters. Check out the cliff demo to see him really pound some guys by that back ladder.

Freezer: Well you didn't get to play that much (only first map and a few rounds on second). Did real good. There is one round in actcity that you really saved the team on. If you guys watch the demo its like the second or third round you see where Freezer is the last one left and pulls out the round by getting the last guy. This was a close map so his win here was crucial.

FRaG God, Jundice: F.G. did a great job making the demos you guys can watch. He really came through with some great film. It was great of him to volunteer to not play and just concentrate on trying to get some cool stuff on demo. Thanks. Jundice showed up and watched most the match. Thanks for being there. Let me know if you feel ready to play in the matches and we will work you into the rotation somehow. That goes for any of you in the clan.

I also want to send out a thanks to the 6e9 clan. They played a great match. They played hard and besides one little...misunderstanding were a bunch of fun. If you watch the teamjungle map demo you will see how good these guys were with those sniper rifles. They are a solid clan and we hope to have future scrimmages with them down the road. Thanks again. - Jazzman-X 4:55pm EST

Yes it does..
Well FRaG..Diet Dr. Pepper DOES taste like Diet Dr. Pepper..heheh.  On a more serious note, A USR guy was spying on me and Antimatter last night..I guess they already know that we're next.  Oh yeah almost forgot  If you see a guy named Mr. Pheely put on your Stealth Slippers and grab your Combat Knives and get ready to be called a camper..hehe  I caught this dude hanging out in that dark little hallway in Kumanru last night and hit him with a knife to the head..since he didn't hear me or see me he accused me of camping.  Well I caught his ass in there a few more times and he accused me a few more times then I just told him to "Stop making excuses for your inabilities" and then he left after the change of levels..I guess he didn't notice I take the same damn route in Kumanru time after time after time, what a DUMBASS!!!.  Any way I ended up winning the level just by using the slipper/knife combo..silent death is cool..Sorry to bore you guys who don't know what I'm saying but hell it was funny at the time..wish I had a demo..

Oh one more thing, in regards to the zbot logs below..Helios{LAVA} is one of the top people in the CLQ rankings..GO FIGURE -

WC victorious in AQ round 2
The Wrecking Crew earned it's second AQ Teamplay victory last night against the 6e9 clan.  Full Demo coverage available from the match results page.  Big match against USR will be scheduled for next week.  For those of you non-AQers, I'm sure all this AQ nonsense will quiet down after the tournament is over.  Special thanks to Cheasy for making the whole thing so clear in his email song.  :)  But I don't care what the rest of you people think, I'm not giving in on the most important debate.   No matter how many emails you want to send me, Diet Dr. Pepper does NOT taste more like Regular Dr. Pepper!

Gee <ROT>Power was using a zbot..hmm go figure.  I hope his fellow clan mates question us as to why he can't get on the server anymore.  I always thought that those guys were a little too accurate, and they always had a little inside joke running it seemed. - Freezer 5:13pm EST

Comments on Gator and WC in General
I was very upset about the email Gator sent the other day. I do not want Gator to quit. In all honesty I don't think he really wants to quit either. He has his reason for being upset and Freezer and I both called him and tried to hopefully fix things. We may need to make some changes in the clan in the upcoming weeks but I don't feel anything painful. I think everyone just needs to be more.....active. We will be discussing it more.

Gator I know you may still be thinking about leaving but I along with everyone else really hope that you will reconsider. Wrecking Crew is a clan built primarily around friendship and having fun. We may be a little lax from time to time but I don't think there is anything wrong with us trying to get more involved. Let me state this now for all members...... The Wrecking Crew is as of this moment a CTF and ACTION QUAKE clan! The is no reason why we can not be both. If you do not play at least one of these mods on a regular basis than you may want to look elsewhere. We have been as a whole playing more AQ lately but we are looking at getting back to CTF much more over the next few weeks. We have enough members to juggle both.

The Wrecking Crew clan is I feel one of the better clans out there. We have a tight group of guys who run servers, update the site regularly and you can almost always find someone online playing or to help you with problems your having. You look at other clans and they have crappy sites update once a month or 3 members, play no matches, do not have a server etc. This describes like 85% of the other so called clans out there. So everyone stick in there and look at what WC has to offer. I personally would like to see more comments, suggestions, feedback etc. from all of you. Email me, Freezer or Gator with any comments or ideas you have. Let us know about tournaments you see starting, new mods you read about, a great map you found, a new tip or config thing you learn. This stuff will help everyone to have fun and be more of a part of WC. The core guys in this clan work hard to make things as cool and fun as we can. So everyone lets just start having more fun and pull this whole clan back together. Please send me all comments you have: Jazzman-X

More Zbot cheaters caught...
Well we had a few more people get caught by our servers. 2 on the Action server and 1 on the CTF server. Here they are:

CTF Server:
[BW-Admin 1.28] Sun Nov 08 17:38:33 1998 : player Milamber @ 207.69.167.249:27901 is a bot (used impulse=77)

Action Server:
[BW-Admin 1.28] Mon Nov 09 20:00:11 1998 : player Helios{Lava} @ 153.37.215.213:27902 Refused Connection (ZBot)
[BW-Admin 1.28] Tue Nov 10 23:00:55 1998 : player <ROT>Power @ 130.126.193.72:27902 Refused Connection (ZBot)

On all 3 they tried multiple times to get in. I have seen before where someone is logged once and that could be a mistake...but not when we have them logged trying it 6 or 7 times. BUSTED. I have added all 3 to the Ban list.

Gator in limbo...
Well I wish I could be more informative with this but I can't, as all of you know Gator sent an email to all members saying he has resigned, well me and Jazzman have sent the fire trucks in and have cooled down the situation a bit.  We truly hope that Gator will stay on.  So if you guys want, send Gator an email saying why you feel he should stay in the clan.  Gator is one of the best if not the best CTFer in the clan, so his resignation will be a BIG loss to our CTF efforts. - Freezer 1:05am EST

LAN party dead for Jazz...
Yeah and I am not very happy about it. Well I will not be able to go to LAN Blast 1 for several reasons. First, Toxoph told me yesterday that he would not be going. He has some stuff going on with getting his house appraised or something. He was going to be my ride to help haul things. So I was still planning on coming and just bringing one system anyway...until last night. To make a long story short I screwed up my system. I tried to install new video drivers (along with DirectX 6) and now I cannot run any games on my system at all (this all happen because I was trying to test Blood 2 demo that required DirectX 6). Everything I try to run comes up and says that "Ddhelp has performed and illegal operation...blah blah blah". Something got screwed with my Direct Draw, DirectX or something. I spent 4 hours with tech support and I still do not have it fixed yet. I cant run anything...Q2, Unreal, Motoracer, nothing.

I am going to work on it all night tonight and try to get it fixed in time for the match tomorrow if I can. If not I will have to use my old PC which has a whacked mouse (no I cannot use other one ps2/serial) etc. This will def. effect my play as I am 100% converted to my new system, mouse, etc. There are like 4 other reasons I am not going to the LAN party but I really don't feel like typing much more. I am so upset about this system problem I don't even want to look at a PC right this second. :( If you remaining guys want to have LAN party still go ahead just be aware we will not be coming now. I have a hub in my possession but I am not sure if it works or not. (long story)But, it should. I can't test it until I get some 10BaseT cables and my PC fixed. - Jazzman-X 8:40am EST

LAN party stuff
Just a note to people who were getting stuff for it, I can't get a hub but we can get 14 foot 10baseT cables for 4 dollars here so don't buy any if they're more expensive.  Let me or ZapMan know if we need any more of them by Friday around noon.

AQ tournament- 6E9 details Part 2
Ok I got a reply from rrRyan their leader. They have selected the map Teamjungle. So that means Actcity2 first level, teamjungle second with Cliff as tie-breaker if needed(they didn't specify so I just decided). We will probably leave skins as is and we get our choice of skin on their level they get choice on our level (most fair way). Members that are playing in match make sure you get the password from me for getting on server. I think I have given it to everyone already but if you do not have it email me and I will send it to you.

AQ tournament- 6E9 details...
I still have not received a reply to questions sent to 6E9 in regards to their map selection etc. I posted a message on their site message board stating I would be asking for a disqual from Clanspot if they did not email me by 8pm tonight with their map selection. I have sent at least 5 emails and posted twice on their message board asking for this. They have known our map choice for over a week. I do not feel this is unfair..in fact I feel they are being very unfair to us. I will post a news update around 845pm tonight stating what happen.

AQ tournament
As expected the United States Rangers beat their opponents in the AQ tournament.  So we will be playing against them in the quarterfinal round assuming the match we have planned happens and goes as planned.   Our immediate opponents don't seem like they will present a great challenge.   They have a great looking site, but very little organization and no apparent leader(s).  We've confirmed the day of the match will be this Wednesday, but we're still waiting to find out what skin and map they want to use and whether or not they got the emails with the password in it.  If they show up at the match wanting to play on a map that isn't on the server then they're just gonna be out of luck I guess.  The real competition will be against USR which I think are probably the best team in the competition.   And according to their site, they have a member called "Jazzman"....   Do we have an evil twin in our midst??

Unreal playable (Freezer's view)
Ok, call me stupid as well, I did the same thing and tried Unreal online and it has improved, now you can get a whole 15fps with a VoodooČ 12mb..hehe  Seriously, multi-player support has improved but as Jazz said, it does not compare to Quake 2's speed and fluidity, so don't go running out and buying up all the copies of Unreal off your local software stores shelves.

Well he finally succumbed to Jazzman's mental torture and joined up.  Everyone welcome Myth (or @myth) to the clan.   Myth plays from Jazzman's house on an almost daily basis, so we knew it wouldn't be long before Jazz wore him down.  - Freezer 5:59pm EST

Unreal playable????

Well I have to agree with Antimatter's news post below. I had not messed with Unreal since patch release 3.16. It was just totally unplayable online. I mean hell I tried it on my T1 connection back then and still could not play. Well I went and got the new 3.19b and got into a game here at home with just my 56k connection.

I must say they have made some major improvements. It is actually playable online now. Although still not as smooth and fast as Quake 2 but not a long ways off like it has been before. I played one the epic servers and it ran real nice. I was hitting the guys I was aiming at and never locked up. Guys didn't appear and disappear or anything. There still seemed to be a slight delay time in firing every once in a while and the overall play just seemed slow still. But it is improving. If you have it go ahead and give the new patch a try. Thanks for pointing it out Antimatter. - Jazzman-X 5:28pm EST

If anyone out there has played on the new WC Lithium server and have experience weird things happening, please email Jazz about it.  I myself have noticed a couple things, hehe it even started kicking (WC)Canadian and saying he was a Zbot.

Also, anyone out there who has purchased Unreal a while ago, and then stuffed it away somewhere because of all the damned bugs, should pull it out.  They've steadily come out with some new patches.  The most recent 2.19b has really made some big improvements in net play.  Direct3D is also supported, even though they have quite a few bug on that to fix.  Oh and about all the crap going on below, it all um...ZapMan's fault... yeah... <j/k>

Jazz Notes on Zap Notes on Jazz Notes on.....
Well I think I should be annoyed or upset somehow at ZapMan's news below....but I just can't be mad if everyone is going. I will say I think it is pretty funny (and I have FRaG GoD to back me up on this) that me, ZapMan and FRaG GoD were all together when the date, time, and specifics were discussed on setting this up..yet ZapMan still acts like the first time he has heard any details about it was yesterday. WE SET THE DAMN THING UP!!!! Heheh.

Also I am sorry I said that you not coming would mess things up but it is in fact true. We would never have even discussed getting a hub if you were not coming with your PC. Everyone else has dual BNC/10baseT cards but you and FRaG GoD. If you were not coming with your PC we would not even be discussing buying one just for one person (Kyle). Ok well enough of this public discussion between me and ZapMan, hehe. We are all going and we are all going to have fun DAMMIT!!! If everyone doesn't then Freezer is going to come to your house and rip your funny bone along with everything attached to it out through your left nostril.

Zap Notes..LAN-Blast
The two individuals not named in Jazz's post below are named here: ZapMan (me), and FRaG GoD. I had a conversation with Jazz recently in which I was tired from working all day on several ridiculously complicated database problems on a new site we just made and we bumped heads a little. Apparently, everyone had assumed I was going to the LAN party, when I really hadn't planned on it. Then I found out I was assumed to be bringing my computer to be of the servers. I like to share, but you have to understand, my monitor alone weighs 80 pounds (yes, eighty) and I have to go down three flights of stairs and across a parking lot to get to my car, not out the front door like everyone else. Then Jazz said I'd be messing up their plans if I didn't come. So, yes, I got annoyed at this. FRaG GoD is only involved because Jazz assumed that if I were not coming, he would not be because he has no car of his own.

For the record, yes, provided that everyone else is still coming, FRaG GoD and I plan on coming to LAN-Blast 1 and kicking everybody's ass. We both plan on bringing our computers. Sorry for getting annoyed.

Server issues...
Just a couple things... I installed Norton Utilities on the server today and ran the Defrag/SpeedDisk utility on it. Man what a difference, hehe. This PC has not been defragged in over a year (mind you its a NT machine not 95/98, no defrag program comes with it). The system seems to be running much better now. Not sure how much it will help the server...but I guess we will see. If you are running a NT machine get Norton Utilities...it helps.

Jazz Notes..LAN-Blast
The LAN-Blast 1 is still scheduled for Saturday, November 14. However, some things have happen that may cause it to be cancelled or delayed.

It appears 2 individuals (I wont name) may not come or may not be able to/or want to bring their PC's. This would cause somewhat of a problem in the whole setup due to we were making special plans to purchase items specifically due to the network cards they had. (we didn't need 10baseT hub if they were not coming) Also this would decrease the number of people so much that the whole point of it the LAN party may be for nothing (I would be the only one traveling long distance, numbers go from 5 people coming to 3 or maybe 2 because one may not go if other 2 are not. So we could go from original of 7 people and PC's to 4 people and PC's. Hell I could do that by myself at home, just bring home old server and work computer.). In addition it would lesson the number of higher end PC's attending in case we were going to have one PC act as a dedicated server in order to keep things nice and even.

My comment towards these individuals is that I don't care and am not mad, but if this is the case I want it to be made clear. Anyway, the LAN party is not off we just need to figure out exactly who IS and IS NOT planning on coming.

So all I ask is right now everyone involved email me an tell me whether you are 100% coming or not. No maybe, perhaps, have to see, etc. I want " Yes, I am coming and bringing PC" or "No, shithead I am not coming.". That's it. Email me here.

More Zbots caught!
I checked the logs this morning and saw there were a few more zbot players picked up over the last few days (trip was last night). Here they are:
[BW-Admin 1.28] Wed Nov 04 20:18:35 1998 : player aceo2 @ 153.36.66.250:27901 is a bot (used impulse=174)
[BW-Admin 1.28] Wed Nov 04 20:19:42 1998 : player aceo2 @ 153.36.66.250:27901 is a bot (used impulse=174)
[BW-Admin 1.28] Fri Nov 06 00:01:06 1998 : player Trip @ 208.243.142.8:27902 Refused Connection (ZBot)
[BW-Admin 1.28] Fri Nov 06 00:01:08 1998 : player Trip @ 208.243.142.8:27902 Refused Connection (ZBot)
[BW-Admin 1.28] Fri Nov 06 00:01:11 1998 : player Trip @ 208.243.142.8:27902 Refused Connection (ZBot)
[Mon Nov 02 20:15:39 1998] Litigator (208.6.200.25:27901)

As you can see the first ones were caught by the BW-Admin. The last one by the default Lithium zbot detect before I had the BW-Admin working. I also have the servers set up with several name bans. Mainly right now I have some...four letter words banned from being in a name. I also have anyone using the name "Player" banned. If they are so stupid as to not know how to change their name I don't want them on our server. That could rub off on others and we would have a server full of idiots. For you curious types here is 2 examples of the server seeing the names and not letting them in:
Wed Nov 04 22:09:35 1998 : Connection - Player @ 153.37.249.115:27901
Wed Nov 04 22:09:35 1998 : Refused Connection - Player (Name Banned)
Wed Nov 04 22:09:38 1998 : Connection - Player @ 153.37.249.115:27901
Wed Nov 04 22:09:38 1998 : Refused Connection - Player (Name Banned)

Thu Nov 05 23:17:45 1998 : Connection - Bitchfucker @ 208.8.216.250:27901
Thu Nov 05 23:17:45 1998 : Refused Connection - Bitchfucker (Name Banned)
Thu Nov 05 23:17:48 1998 : Connection - Bitchfucker @ 208.8.216.250:27901
Thu Nov 05 23:17:48 1998 : Refused Connection - Bitchfucker (Name Banned)

The cool thing is that on the last one I only had part of that name banned but it picks it up and does it anyway. The servers also now log complete tracking logs of all players that connect and disconnect. What that means is if you are on and see some guy abusing the server or whatever and only catch his name, you can give it to me and I can go through log and find his IP. Then banning can be set if needed. Cool. Nobody is safe now, MUWAHAHAHAHA..oh.. ummm.. sorry... :)

Jazzy revisited...
Just a few other things. First here is a kinda funny strip I saw over at Blues:
but81022.gif (14500 bytes)

I also saw that John Romero is going to be in the next Rolling Stones issue to hit the newstand. I also saw that he was recently named one of the 101 most influential people in entertainment by Entertainment Weekly.

What the hell have they been smoking. I mean hell the last game he really did that he had an influence on was the original Quake! On quake 2 he was reported as doing very little and that's why he was booted. I mean hell I give the guy his props for helping to create Doom and Quake but damn what have you done for me lately? Once old boy split from the "Real Deal" John Carmack I think its going to be obvious who "The Man" is. Just my opinion. Everything I have read or heard about his Dakiwannabe game has sounded weak at best.

Jazz Notes...
- I think those new icons on the roster page look great. Much better. If anyone finds anything else that may be better please send them to FRaG GoD.

- I have not received a reply back from the 6E9 clan that we are supposed to play in the AQ match next week. I sent them an email on Tuesday night. If I do not get a reply by tonight I will send them another email.

- Freezer has a better connection now down in his area so everyone should hear less bitching from him about how he is gonna kill his provider. If he says it now he means ME!!!

Roster icons
Well as I said when I put them up, they were just little crap that I came up with late at night with what I could make from scratch in image composer.  Gator sent me some new windows icon files that I messed with a little.  The red things should be recognizable as the red CTF flag.  The other one is a shrunken bullet that is not as clear.  There is one more icon he sent that I might mess with later today after I take my daily coma.  It doesn't really represent AQ though, so keep sending any pictures that might work better.

Request to members...
I have a small request/project for any member cool enough to do it for us. I absolutely hate the little icons that we have on the roster page for the different matches (no offense Frag God). The stars and red dots have to go. Could someone please make or find some other small images to use instead? I was thinking maybe like a small bullet for the action quake and maybe a small flag for the CTF matches? If any of you are cool enough to take the time and find and or make something like that please send them to Frag God. Your name will be displayed prominently in a glorious news update for all slackers to behold. - Jazzman-X 4:48pm EST

Jazz back to work...
Ok I have done a few things. First there is a new map on the Action server: Urban. You can get it from Mapdepot.net . While you are there make sure you check out Freezer's review of the Teacher map in the review section. I also updated the AQ server and Lithium server to a more up to date version of the Zbot/ipban/etc program. So our servers should be more secure. - Jazzman-X 3:18pm EST

CLQ and stuff
Heh I'm just messing with Freezer because I don't get to do it in CTF anymore... CLQ did crash for about 5 hours early Friday morning.   Also according to their news page they have a new system of scoring that "increases competition".  They don't really say how or explain it too well, they just say it's different and better.  Canadian's CLQ link now works properly.   I didn't know he was going by (WC)Canadian so it appeared that he hadn't played at all in the last 3 months but in fact has logged almost 60 hours.  Also member SB-Viper appeared back online for the first time in a long time last week, giving him his first CLQ entry too.   Welcome back man.

For anyone who hasn't noticed, the roster page now includes AQ matches too, along with links to the match results for them.  I plan on being a professional spectator in the next AQ match and making some very good demos of it.   I added a link in the Matches box to the AQ Tournament's web site so that you don't have to keep searching for links in the news updates for it.

Updates
Yeah sure I made up the email..forgot everything cool is perfect..the CLQ is so perfect it's pathetic.  Frankly I could care less about the freaking thing..but I guess it amuses some people.  The programmers are so good they can't even get the system to distinguish between (WC)- and just [WC]..yeah perfect..lazy ass programmers that's all very easy to make it check for that.  But then again, that's my opinion, I'm only a lowly loser who has never programmed anything in my life I don't know what I'm talking about.. - Freezer 2:28am EST
