IDX Hits SW FL
Real Estate community sees big changes with state's new online data exchange program.
FT MYERS, FL — This year the Florida Association of Realtors rolls out a new program, IDX (Internet Data eXchange), that will change the shape of real estate selling in years to come. Local areas such as Fort Myers and Cape Coral have come under the plan within the last couple months.
IDX allows brokers to develop web sites that show all listings in Florida, not just their own listings. A cooperative program called Broker Reciprocity sets the ground rules for the statewide collaboration.
FAR offers several ways to connect a web site into the IDX data, and allows the use of third party consultants. The options available from FAR range from allowing linking to their servers to downloading the data and processing locally.
NeoReality is a local Fort Myers firm that has followed IDX since its early announcements. The company is strongly pursuing IDX as Realtors make up a substantial portion of its clientele. Martin Flack, NeoReality's Web Development Director, acknowledges the direction of the state's realty organization. "IDX is the next step for real estate sites - in some ways a precursor to web services across many industries."
NeoReality is a web firm that serves clients such as the University of California, Nature Magazine, and locally the Youngquist Brothers, Home-Tech, AccuData, and many more.
